DOOM is one of the first FPSs (Wolfenstein is basically the first.)
Eye of the Beholder is the very first true 3D game, tho.

I was on the button for purchasing doom for quite some time when it was released. Maybe ill go and buy it now. Assult heroes was fun too, but I still wont buy it for more then 200 ms points.
Which reminds me, if games were 200 ms points, I would own at least 40 more XBLA titles.

Assault Heroes is not a bad game for $5, also I never had any problems playing co-op over Live.
I'd have been more interested in Doom if they'd made any type of effort to make it look or play better. Adding looking up or down with the right stick would have been a good start. There are a couple of PC mods that improved on the original game, like Doom Legacy.

Of course I already have Doom, but I am very happy to see they are continuing with this. I think they should up the turn-around a bit more, but I'll be excited each time they lower prices.

@Neuromancer
Agreed. I played through Doom again recently on my PC with Doomsday, and expected the XBLA port to be at least as improved as that one was. When I tried the demo though I thought I had accidentally turned on my Wii and was getting one of those shitty VC direct ports.
Shame they didn't put ANY effort into this one..

@Jonah Falcon, If you want to get technical... Eye of the Beholder's not true 3D and neither is Doom; they're both 2.5D (I kid you not, google them) And as far as 2.5D games go... you're still about a decade too late with Eye of the Beholder... check out a game called "Battlezone" ;)

I have been thinking about Assault Heroes for a while. This seals the deal for me.

Assault Heroes is totally worth the 5 bucks. You waste more everyday on junk food.

@AoE & Jonah Falcon: Eye of the Beholder? The old-school RPG on the Amiga? (And other systems I'm sure) I would have said completely 2D. Am I thinking of a different game?
