If you're wondering why there's no PlayStation 3 beta for Super Street Fighter II Turbo Remix HD, Capcom Senior Director of Strategy Christian Svensson has offered an explanation via the official forums. What it came down to, he said, was resource constraints, and it was easier to use Xbox Live for global tests. The test will "absolutely help the PS3" and, while he would ideally like a test on both platforms, it would've caused a delay of the game.
Svensson concluded with a challenge, of sorts. "When you show me someone running a cross platform beta... I'll be impressed, because that's a hell of an investment," he said. "Lastly, keep it civil. If this thread turns to threats or hyperbole, I'm closing it." As it turns out, he did end up closing the thread. So it goes.

Uh, we all know why there is no Beta on PSN. Lets just be honest, who cares if peoples "feelings" get hurt. =P

I do recall being part of the warhawk beta. Not exactly sure what Capcom is getting at. Home also has a beta. I guess its just impossible to do when you are Capcom.
Sounds to me like another MS purchased beta.

Doing a beta is a very complicated thing, well doing a beta that sends back meaningful information. It would be like trying to make a whole new cross-platform game. Except it makes ZERO money. It would be stupid to do it on both when you get the same result if you do it on one console.
This isn't the final game people, relax.

Cause the last one (Keep DMC4 off the 360?) worked *so* well, didn't it?
And they expected to not have a system fanboy fight-fest over this on their forums? Mr. Svenson must be new to the internet.

I hate fanboys...why don't you try being a fan of games instead of the systems...It's not that it can't handle, I'll just copy and paste what I wrote on PS3 fanboy
Capcom is a business and they will run the beta as cheaply as possible and get maximum return.
Lets say the ps3 had 100 potential users and the 360 has 300. If capcom is anticipating 50% of the users are going to purchase commando to get the beta, that would be 50 on ps3 and 150 on xbox...who do you think they will choose? It just makes perfect sense to release a stress test beta to the console that has the largest user base for maximum return.

I'll definitely be playing the beta on 360 but will probably end up buying it for PS3. The controller just seems better with the d-pad at the top and all.

If you have both systems, PS3 and 360, now there's no single reason to chose the PS3 version over 360 version.
Maybe before, when the 360 was going to be compressed...
But now that the graphics quality is going to be the same, the 360 will offer more value for the same price.
Achievements and a better online integration, and rumble without buying another controller.
Only problem in both consoles is the D-Pad... the 360 D-Pad is not very good, and the PS3 D-Pad is segmented...

Before the Classic Controller, PS3 D-pad was win for the generation, Wiimote's is a bit too small for precision
Segmentation makes it harder to press one direction, but accidentally brush up against an adjacent direction and wind up sending the wrong command, something that's been happening to me a lot with the regular Wiimote's d-pad

Question Off-Topic?
Why other companies don't use a cross D-Pad, like the best D-Pad ever (Snes)?
It's a patent or something?

the d-pad on the 360 is unreliable. When I want it to go right, I press down-right... and so on. This is fatal in fighting games.
Sony and Nintendo both have good d-pads, though if I could get my hands on some good arcade sticks for the 360, all would be well.

I prefer the PS3 d-pad to the 360 d-pad. The main problem with the PS3 d-pad is that the segmented design can be hard on the thumbs during extended play in a game like SFII.
I'm still undecided on which system to get it for, but I'm leaning toward the PS3 based on the d-pad issue alone.

I really find it playing Street Fighter with the analog stick very confortable.
I even find it easier to make hadokens and other moves.

I could never get used to the Playstation D-Pad. Seriously, the last generation was terrible for D-pads. It was as if the big three conspired to shove the D-pad in the retirement home. Khan's right about the classic controller, though. It's so big and comfy. Almost as good as the Saturn pad.
If Sega came back to the hardware business then maybe they'd bring back an equivalent to the Saturn pad.

Sorry man...the Sega Saturn 6-Button Controller, version 2.0 not the original one that shipped with the US console, rules them all. With it's 6-button layout it was absolutely perfect for Street Fighter.
And yes, Nintendo's D pad is patented. Only on Nintendo products.

RE: only Nintendo having a cross d-pad. Yes, it's a patent thing. You'll never (or SHOULD never) see a d-pad on anything non-nintendo that isn't either a full circle (ala xbox) or separate buttons (ala playstation).

I prefer the DS's d-pad but hey who am I kidding. None of my close buddies have a PS3 so of course Im getting this for 360. The 360 d-pad is not all that bad its more of a learning curve. You have to get used to it. Its nothing major that will make you throw the controller out the window or anything.

slightly off topic, but the new Dualshock3 seems to have more tactile feedback with respect to it's D-pad. It's also allot heavier than the 6axis. Feels good.
The rumble is well, so "last-gen"...hahaha...but seriously, feels right at home. It's rumblelicious.

Woah, while the "there's no reason to buy the PS3 version over the 360 version" argument works in many instances, I don't think this is one of them.
The 360 has an awesome controller, but the ps3 controller is farrrrr superior for fighting games. We're talking the best dpad ever here on the PS3 controller vs. the worse ever on the 360 controller. Fighting games are the only multi-plat games I get on the PS3, and that's the route I'll likely be going here as well unless MS miraculously decides to spend the extra nickel on each controller to give it a functional d-pad.

What if I want to play it without my room sounding like a helicopter is taking off?
I find it hilarious when people say "now there's absolutely no advantage to the PS3..."
There's a lot of reasons some people prefer the PS3. If you are so blind to them as to think they don't even exist, you're deep in the fanhood.

Who cares? Bring it on.
I've been waiting so badly for some SF HD action. I wish they would just release the entire Alpha series and Marvel series in HD.
If any games deserved the HD over do, it's these masterpieces.

BETA=buggy.
Who cares? Its Street Fighter 2 - a game that has been milked to death for the last DECADE with EX, EX+Alpha..the slightest ajustments to them mean ALL NEW!
and to be honest it's smarter that its on the 360 because there are more users available to test on.
BIG FREAKING WHOOP!

Why? it's a beta, right? Technically, they're not making any money off of it yet other than what ever they're bundling it with and those who purchase it for this reason alone.

I can't believe people are bickering over which console has the better d-pad. I'm getting it for the 360 because of the better online and am making an arcade stick to play the game. Who in their right mind would play the game with either the ps3 controller or the 360 controller?

Of course, on the PS3, you could just use USB controllers you already have. Or just use a PS2 stick with a USB adapter.

tinfoil hats are out in full swing i see.
why would they run a beta on both at the same time? psn and xbl are not intecompatible, so they would have to run two seperate betas. why would they do that when they can get all the info they need from just running one or the other?
xbox live being the more popular of the two systems, why wouldn't they use xbl over psn? they want the most people running the beta they can get.

Who even cares about this beta. Sony has the Home beta right now, and Killzone, Metal Gear Online, and LittleBigPlanet betas coming soon. Warhawk beta was awesome by the way too. MS has had few betas so far, let them have one.

Whoa, wait...timeout...They don't want to test a product because it would delay that product. When is that ever a good fucking excuse to not test a product?
"When you show me someone running a cross platform beta... I'll be impressed, because that's a hell of an investment," I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that testing is a good investment.
