The upcoming Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PlayStation 3 has already reached a milestone, with SCEE confirming the title has reach one million in European pre-orders. That pretty much assures the racer of hitting platinum status within its first week of release.
For those wishing to go the download route, Prologue will only cost your hard drive 1.9 GB. Filling out the remainder of the Blu-ray disc version are cinematics from the game, still available to the downloaded version in-game through GT TV. As explained by Eurogamer (via PS3 Fanboy), you can download the opening movie at any time, and the ending movie becomes available once you beat the game. No word yet on how big those movies are.
GT5 Prologue is due out next Friday, March 28, in Europe (March 27 for download) and April 17 in North America.

Are they also putting it on sodas and chips like they did for Halo 3 here?

I can't wait till I can download Metal Gear Solid 4. It will only be like 5GB of game, then the rest is filler such as the intro and endings.
Then the same will be done with Too Human for the Xbox 360 where you can download that too, then as you beat the game you can download the ending cinematic.
For me, this just sounds retarded where the game is only 1.9GB, and the rest of the Blu-Ray is cinematic movies. Yay. So much for GAMES needing Blu-Ray for all that GAME PLAY.

You must be a noobula, because MGS doesn't use pre-rendered cinematics and it never did. Any cutscenes use the game's engine and are not space-fillers/wasters.

You do realize this is slightly bigger than demo sized? The actual game will take up more space.

Take note: I also said something about Too Human, an Xbox 360 game, and nobody said anything. Funny how whenever you say anything remotely negative about a Sony game they come out like a tribe of wild savages and attack you like you just desecrated their shrine.

Yes, that happens when you have people, boys really, that are "fans" of a product or subject. Other things prompting a similar response include, but are not limited to: 360, Wii, PS3, PS2, Dreamcast, Halo 3, Twilight Princess, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Cars, Politics, TV Shows, Movies, Books, and the Weather.
Good thing that you, me, and everyone else here never gets offended when someone posts a negative comment on beloved subjects. That'd suck worse than Master Chief on shore leave.

I bet a ton of them won't realize that they don't have the full game until the game actually comes out. Then they will all be pissed but will probably buy it anyways. I still can't get over the fact that people are paying so much for a demo. It's 2/3 the price of the full game and has 1/10 of the content of GT4? It seems like it should be 1/10 of the price if it only has 1/10 of the content.

Keep drinking that haterade. This is far from "just a demo" as you would call it. This release is also inline with the majority of other GT releases. They usually have a smaller version release prior to the full version. Also, this is the first GT with online multiplayer which will be included in the Prologue game. Not to mention the 100 cars and I believe 6 tracks that can be raced in both directions. This game will be plenty big and will suffice my GT appetite until the full version drops. I bet this "demo" will feature more cars and better online play than Mario Kart Wii.

Jesus christ, only one tenth of the content? You know this for fact? Because if it's true, that means GT5 will ship with 60 tracks (compared to Forza 2's 14), and 670 cars. In which case, that game will be fucking epic content wise.
Or you could take this for what Prologue releases have always been. A preview of the full game but with a massive feature list. I'm not picking this up personally, but calling this a demo is really getting old. If anything, it's closer to the old days where on PC, you would buy something like Rise of the Triad for $20 only to find it's the first 1/4 of the game. Except Prologue won't keep interrupting gameplay to tell you about all the features you're missing.

Mark my words... it's not going to sell 1 million in the first day in EU, or even in one week.
Same thing happened with Mario Galaxy, in just Jp... 800,000 pre-orders, only 260,000 sold in first day.
I'm that sure.
And if anyone think that Im wrong, I bet you Wii Points cards vs PSN Money or Live Points.
Really.

If you count tracks how GT counts tracks then Forza 2 has 47 tracks and not 14. In addition, please stop saying what it will ship with when that is certainly no guarantee. I played GT4 at E3 when they announced it would have online play. That never happened now did it? (yes I still bought it anyway). Get over the fact that it is a demo. Prologue is just their fancier way of saying it. It IS a demo and it is such a nice demo that they are charging for it and that is OK.

GT and GTA are possibly the two most recent talked about games in my area. That doesn't apply to everywhere of course, but its interesting.
Army of two is also talked a bit about, and of course Fifa and Pro Evo the most.

Wow, Vidkron... that's a bet I wouldn't take. Trust me on that, I turned it down. Here's why odds are against you....
1. The sales recorded would only be through brick and mortar purchases. Ones made off PSN wouldn't count towards the goal.
2. Some countries in Europe are a hell of a lot more accurate reporting their sales than others. So sales could be happening that wouldn't show up on your total.
3. GT5 Prologue comes out on a Friday... meaning essentially you have two days to sell 1 million plus on BluRay otherwise any sales that spill over into the next week, starting on Sunday, would likely not count towards the bet.

@Sir Fidlious Wong
Actually, I honestly figure I won't win, but that's OK. BUT I am going to hold the bet to 1 actual week (7 days), not the week ending that Saturday. I actually have 2000 points sitting in my Wii account and they have been there since the Christmas after the Wii launch. I got them as a gift from a friend, but haven't found anything that I really wanted to spend them on. So, yeah, I'll probably lose, but I'm fine with that.

Here is a quote about GT4's content...
"The game features over 700 cars from 80 manufacturers, from as early as the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage and as far into the future as concepts for 2022. The game also features 51 tracks, many of which are new or modified versions of old Gran Turismo favorites, with some notable real-world additions"
So you think that GT5 will have less cars and tracks than GT4? Weird...

1280x1080 (4:3 anamorphic on a 16:9 screen) with HDR lighting and 2x MSAA at 60FPS is pretty damn impressive. 50% more pixels than forza 2, which didn't have AA.

Sorry, not 4:3, but still anamorphic (gets stretched to fill the horizontal space)

maybe they don't know what Prologue means? Plus the "demo" itself is very meaty so those who did buy it not knowing it is a "demo" they probably assume it is a short full game instead. Regardless Sony is making tons of profit out of this since they really didn't need to do a lot to make it happen
