GT5 Prologue hits 1 million Euro pre-orders

The upcoming Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PlayStation 3 has already reached a milestone, with SCEE confirming the title has reach one million in European pre-orders. That pretty much assures the racer of hitting platinum status within its first week of release.

For those wishing to go the download route, Prologue will only cost your hard drive 1.9 GB. Filling out the remainder of the Blu-ray disc version are cinematics from the game, still available to the downloaded version in-game through GT TV. As explained by Eurogamer (via PS3 Fanboy), you can download the opening movie at any time, and the ending movie becomes available once you beat the game. No word yet on how big those movies are.

GT5 Prologue is due out next Friday, March 28, in Europe (March 27 for download) and April 17 in North America.

I guess Sony wasn't lying when they said Europe loves the PS3. I wonder how will sell in the States?

I guess the prologue's profits will cover the dev cost of the full game and the profit from the full game will be pure profit? Maybe they can afford to smash some cars to do some real damages.

Europe also was the Prolouge bundle over there. So I wonder how many PS3's will be bougth for this game?

I can't really express anything but disdain for the idea, but if they want to buy it, who are we to argue.

Prologues have been done for like every other GT game, so people know what they're getting. What's with people assuming that other are stupid simply because they're such huge fans of a series that they would buy a gimp version before the actual release? It's their money anyway, so why should you care. That said, I dont give a shit about Gran Turismo.

Anyway, 1million in Europe alone, not bad.

I remember seeing demo disks for GT2 and 3, but never have I heard of a "prologue" version being SOLD at retail ahead of a launch.

They have, and the demo was given for free, Prologue has always been sold....

Its not just GTs success that is spurring sales, its just cars in general.

Mark my words... it's not going to sell 1 million in the first day in EU, or even in one week.

Same thing happened with Mario Galaxy, in just Jp... 800,000 pre-orders, only 260,000 sold in first day.

The only thing we brits love about as much as footy and rugby, is driving, this game shouldn't do bad at all, including GTA.

i mean, it's not like the Polyphony Digital guys have released a "Prologue" version of any previous GT game, therefore GT fans would know *EXACTLY what they are getting, so they are completely aware of the fact that this is *NOT the full game they are spending their 40 bucks on.

i mean, they're Playstation 3 fans, right? they're idiots!

It's obviously encouraging for Sony that a 40$ demo sells better than their best effort yet (uncharted), but since it's Europe and Playstation, we should expect nothing less than great sales for anything gran turismo.

I guess Europe is to Playstation, that America is to Xbox.

Gran Turismo is one of the best selling franchises and this demo seems to continue the tradition. I preferred more arcadey racers myself.

when is the actual Gran Turismo 5 coming out, does anybody know??? because this is only the prologue, i want the real one, where you can fully customise your vehicle!!!
