New games this week: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 edition

We were fiends for Rainbow Six: Vegas' incredible multiplayer modes back in 2006 (and into 2007, truth be told) so we had to give it the featured spot this week. That said, we'll be interested to see if it can remove current champ Call of Duty 4, which dethroned even the world's favorite Spartan.

There's not a whole lot else of note, save for a new Hot Shots Golf. But we've still got the full list after the break for your perusal.

There's another Lost in Blue for the DS?

Can't seem to find any reviews anywhere for it at the moment, since it's just coming out this week, but I found out that on Metacritic, Nintendo Power gave the game a 55/100... so not promising at all. =/

LOL, yeah, if Nintendo Power gives a game a bad rating, you can only assume it's one of the worst games of all time. Because it basically never happens.

I've been waiting for Hot Shots OOB....if I play Open Tee one more time I'll go nuts....see you guys online.

I really dont think R6V2 has enough hype around it to kick COD4(especially) down from its current position.

Also it really doesnt offer any new gameplay mechanics either, just the same visceral tactical action I love. I'm def. getting it, so are my buddies, that is what makes it fun for me.

I agree, especially about the hype thing. Ubisoft has been basically mute when it comes to this game. A lot of people that I talked to didn't even know it had been announced.

Agreed, this is the first I've even heard of it. haha

I remember when the first one was coming out and seeing the booth at E3.

Those were the days.

Oh wait, I just noticed Championship Pony for the DS, I had no idea that was being released this week!!!1

Diary Girl is TOTALLY where it's at.

Theres no way this game dethrones COD4. Also, whats up with the graphics? There is no facelift what-so-evarrr. And I thought Gears 2 was coming out too soon. This game came out at the same time as Gears 1 and look how quick part 2 is out. Hope Ubi isnt going the EA way...

Well hmph, George of the Jungle does. What does COD4 have on that? Huh? What did you say? Silence? Damn right, cos you know George of the jungle pwns COD4 :P

I didnt know George of the Jungle had MP. Ill have to check it out =P

Seriously though I dont see COD4 being dethroned until GTAIV or Gears2. If those dont do it I dont know what will.

same thing i was thinking, they just rehashed the first one with some new maps. This should have been DLC at most.

George of the Jungle is freaking awesome and it rapes COD4 any day.

Hot Shots Golf AND Sega Superstar Tennis.... Hot Shots gets the priority, I'll wait for Sega Tennis to drop in price....

If I had a PS2 I'd get Metal Gear.

I'm glad I've got a Wii. The amount of money I spend on games has drastically decreased. I've become more conscious of the need to be choosey. I'm also saving money. This is all part of Nintendo's cunning plan...

other than that, nothing new....not really a fan of Rainbow 6--I'll stick to CoD4 and Halo3.

Obviously because Soccer (or the 'Foot-ball', as you folks say) is ever so much popular over in the States. OBVIOUSLY.

Much like Nader stealing votes from the democratic presidential nominee, R6V2 will take enough players away from COD4 to allow the slimy corporate friendly Halo 3 to burden us with another 4 years of bad decisions.

I was thinking the same. R6V2 won't top CoD4, but the two games are much more similar than R6V2 is to Halo 3, so I could see it pulling away enough CoD4'ers to throw Halo back on top.

MGS Essentials for me! Gotta catch up before MGS 4 comes out.

I really liked the demo of the new Hot Shots Golf, but $60 is a bit steep for it, especially since I have some of the older ones already.

Oh look... another shooter. Hot Shots for me.

My concern about R6V2 is that there is still no demo. that doesn't go over well as the first one had a demo and I loved the first one. I wonder if they know it isn't all that much better than the first and chose not to release a demo to ensure they get those launch day sales before people figure out it is just a $60 expansion pack for R6V1

I have those concerns but I am getting tired of the snipers exploiting the maps and calling in a dozen airstrikes because they are shooting from outside the normal realm of the game...

I'm not buying games until I finish this assload of work so I'm probably not going to buy something new until MGS4.Too bad I want C2 and Sega Superstars tennis.

Where's Ninja Gaiden DS? Wasn't that supposed to come out this week? Damn, I've been waiting for that game like...forever...

I believe (off the top of my head, mind you) that it ships around the 25th.

I don't know why, but Rainbow Six is incredibly dull for me. It feels...I dunno, not like a R6 game. The way I see it, if you get shot, you should be dead, none of this health-regenerating nonsense. And shootouts? Wtf? Since when are SWAT teams ever known for the way they handle shootouts? It's about tactical entry and takedown, clearing a room in two seconds before anyone knows what is happening.

Bah. I guess I'm in the minority here.

If you play it right it is meant to be like that for clearing rooms... but this isn't S.W.A.T. this is the Rainbow Squad... At least from what I understand... Rainbow is military, S.W.A.T. is part of a local police force.

Oh, yeah should've remembered that. Still. I know there's some dynamic ordering around you can do, but it still doesn't feel like a well-coordinated strategy, just more of a "Okay you go around there and surprise him" strategy in each room.

Well it looks like there is a little more dynamics... You get easier control over who gets it in what priority sequence also when you open the door from snake cam you stay aimed close to where it was on the cam... Also you get more mid combat control and the AI allies should be better too... Like you tell them to throw a frag they are supposed to throw it where it might be useful...

And the loss of four player co-op campaign is a terrible terrible loss....

Wait I missed MGS:E.Oh Shi- I'm buying that.

R6 Vegas 2 will knock COD4 off ...necause a large portion of the COD4 players were most definitely R6 Vegas players.

And who can't love real CO-OP in the single player game??

I really hope they keep the custom face feature...it was GREAT when it worked.

Not to mention that the customization and ranking up features really are what COD4 copied in alot of ways.

I seriously played R6 VEGAS straight for almost a day straight the day after xmas a couple years ago...it is that good.

the only thing that could hold it back is that it definitely requires alot more teamwork and strategy than COD4...i.e. more thinking....

Some COD4 players don't play like that.

I'd say that MGS essential collection is pretty notable over hot shots golf.

Poor Sega Superstars Tennis.
