are you kidding? if you can't win a game without snaking (i.e. honestly) you shouldn't play in the first place.

you completely misunderstood the context of what he said. He didnt mean pro as in elite, he meant pro as in for. Like when you say something has pros and cons. He meant people who are 'for' snaking and people who are 'against' snaking

I never played a Mario kart game but I just want you people to analyze the box.

Is Mario and Luigi (Weegee) using the Wii wheel (sounds stupid I know) pretending they are on Karts. Well if they are pretending they are driving karts why don't pretend they have a wheel too? I mean they can imagine the whole kart but not the friggin wheel? I mean is not even necessary.

Lame.

While I agree snaking can get irritating at times, it is a hell of a lot of fun if both/all people are good at it.

How is snaking different from the standard boosting mechanism where you have to jiggle the stick while sliding to increase your boost? I thought that was how you were supposed to play?

Snaking is part of the game. Look at the dev ghosts in time attacks. Some courses cant be beat without snaking all the way through.

Snaking is gone. I'm not too upset about it. The bad thing is that corner snaking (multiple power boosts on turns) is gone. What was wrong with that?

If you couldn't stop a snaker with banana or turtle shell, then you just don't know how to play the game. Stop crying and learn how to combat against it. Play like a champion... No excuses.

What is "snaking?"
Is that when you like turn all those corners & such? I love almost all Mario games, but I dont get what snaking is.
Someone please explain, (nicely!)

MKDS is the first place I even realized snaking exsisted, thank wfc, but I thought it just made the game more challenging and competitive. If you play against people that dont know how to snake... yes you will most certainly dominate them. But like anything in life, practice makes perfect, yes folks even for snaking. It was part of the game, your choice to not utilize this skill resulted in you sucking and losing..your choice
More fun, and a strong left thumb, whats not to love?

It's sad to see so many people hating snaking...

It was a good addition to the D.S. verison that made the game bearable, especially in 50cc...

I have no trouble playing online, basically, if your not good enough to play online, don't. Technically you can say the items are unfair, especially in first place. Remove the items that would be good for you lot. All you need to do then, is steer like any other game.

The D.S. verison (for me) is the best version of Mario Kart, as it's quick and easy and snaking isn't a difficult thing to learn.

I agree, and say that there should be two modes,

non-snaking (easy)
and snaking (fun and quite challenging)

Next you will say dodging blue shells is cheating -.-
It's not...

I use Bowser in the Egg car on the D.S., and I find snaking a real advantage for all players, it makes time trial fun too, looking at friends ghosts and telling them where they went wrong. =)

In the Wii, sadly it looks too much like double dash both graphically and style, it looks like Bowser can only be in a heavy kart. This will ruin me using bowser then, as since the GBA version, bowser has been no good in his own cars. (No advantage whatsoever!)

Except the D.S. Rainbow Road, in which I used Bowser in the Hurricane (Plane) for Time Trial.

I am not looking for an argument, and might be in a minority here, but snaking IS good fun, and I am wondering whether to purchase this now, as the fun and point of learning all the tracks is now over. All I need to do is hang back and let the items make me win, Saaad... =(

Another point but still annoying is the blue shell. I prefered it on the N64 and GBA, where it was spiky and had no wings. It was less accurate sure, but it hit nearly all people along the way, and no sad blast radius too...

I liked the red shells on the GBA, the way if you put them out behind you, they waited for the next person to go near it and then went after them.

One more thing...

I find the comments about snakers not being able to play really stupid. Just because people are jealous we can finish before them (THE OBJECTIVE, funnily enough) they get all annoyed and think it takes no skill. Actually its the opposite and whats funny is, you know it. ;-)
If a bad snaker tries to snake, they will fall off the edge and end up behind.

I rarley actually snaked as such, I mainly used the ability to get quick boosts round looong corners such as Rainbow Road, it was quick and easy. =)

I personally think that DS Mario Kart is the best version and loved playing against my friends offline. Go online and you open up a can of worms. What's with all this zig-zag stuff? I did some research and learned all about snaking and then learned how to do it. I think it stinks and totally ruins the online experience and puts new players off. I'm a seasoned gamer and am lucky enough to have the gaming experience to learn this technique. Remember, for everyone of me, there's 10,000 confused and dissapointed people who don't know what the hell's happening. Let's play on a fair playing field, where everyone has a chance and at least if they haven't got the track knowledge and skills that others have, they don't see a bunch of other karts acting strangely and wonder what's happening.I hope on Wii Mario Kart the advantage can be gained with expert driving and learning an abundance of track secrets. Ps-hated the Gamecube version, and will be playing my Wii M/Kart with a classic controller.

Would just like to add to the argument that you cant stereotype snakers and non snakers as two separate groups. Not all people who used snaking in the game were elitists, not all of them went rampaging online with their 'leet skillz' to boost their own bigheadedness. Likewise, not all non-snakers are "noobz", too bad at the game to perform snaking, and not all non-snakers whinge about people who do snake.

I used to snake in MKDS, but i hardly played online on that anyway. I can see the argument that a snaker vs a non-snaker is a somewhat unfair race. But then i dont think that means people who snake are being unfair, or that there is anything wrong with snaking itself. Everyone IS on a level playing field because everyone has the OPPORTUNITY to snake. Whether they take this up or not is a different issue, and is nothing to do with the game design.

So no more snaking in MK wii. Well i was a snaker and i dont care either way. If snaking were in it, i'd snake. Since it's not I won't. It doesnt make much odds to me either way. Skill comes in many forms, and knowing a track better than someone else enables you to better anticipate corners and so powerslide earlier. It enables you to know where shortcuts are and use them effectively. Without snaking the luck element grows, yes, but then isnt that what Mario Kart is all about? Being blue shelled on the finish line and ending up fourth is annoying but it's what's classic about MK and it's something that will always come with it. If you lose out because someone else got lucky then why can't you just accept that and move on?

A snaking mode and a non-snaking mode is quite a good idea - as a snaker i can say that i did NOT do it just so that in races with 7 other non snakers i could win every time. Racing against other snakers was fun and challenging.
