Rumor: New FFXIII and Versus footage at PS Premiere

I'm inclined to agree with you. FFX was partially ruined for me by a PS2 magazine's review, in which they spoiled like half the plot twists (without any spoiler warnings). Pissed me off, that did.

No, you definitely are not the only one not trying to find new information. (I still have no idea what the big difference is between FFXIII and FFVSXIII. To me, it just sounds like someone's plot to get [at least] $120 out of the pockets of fanboys and fangirls around.) I have FFX and FFXII, and I do enjoy them, but I wouldn't consider myself a FF fan. To be honest, I could do without the series and still be fine.

I'm actually building up my FF collection, as for now i have FFOrigins, FFChronicles, FFAnthologies, FFVII PC Version, didn't like neither VIII or IX, just bought from a friend FFX and X2, thinking on getting FFXII later, and getting a PS3 as soon as the FFXIII release date is anounced. As you can see, I only go for the main saga, and no spin off like Tactics, CC, but if the Wii FF proves to be good (no the SimCity one coming to WiiWare) 'll be getting (the CC one, no the Chocobo Dungeon one)

You were one in a million then. FFXII was generally praised by the gaming media and the astronomical sales. Metacritic has it listed as a 92 with a giant gob of 100 scores from magazines and bloggers.

Got to admit, I read all those reviews and stuff for FFXII being all new age and the rest of it. But at the end of the day the combat was BORING compared to the others.

The real time combat which wasn't real time really since you stopped time to do commands, felt forced and unatural. I personally think the style of Vagrant Story's combat was better and a LOT more strategic and engaging, and that game is old school.
The problem with FFXII was that you had a whole squad which was fine, but you had to stop time to control them all and most of the time you just couldn't be bothered. If you set up your gambits for healing strats and levelled up proportionally to your enemies (And did all the hunts like me) you practically never had to use any tactics! Bring back the days of FFVII and Lucifers Call. Turned based RPG's were fun because you had to use your head, not just sit frothing at the screen clicking a button once every 5 minutes and waiting for your brain to ooze out of your nose.

Of course that's just my opinion ^^

I agree totally with Tim and R.crisp - FFXII combat system felt unnatural for a FF title. Square needs to take the combat back to FFVII or VIII (FFX was pretty good too) to really get my juices flowing again.

Add me to the list of people who thinks FFXII sucked.

He told me, that if they wanted to do a real time combat system, they should have used the Kingdom Hearts Combat System, and I haven't played, but I think I agree, it's really fast button smashing battle system that I liked a lot. Also, it's similar to the one used on FFVII Crisis Core. Oh, 'll be getting this one also, even thought I don't have a PSP, but soon I will... damn, need lotsa money

Agreed. The first couple hours of FFXII, the battle system was boring. Then, at a certain point, the gambit system became intriguing. After a few hours of that, the game basically played itself with absolutely no need to press a button ( --> boooring ).

I've been looking forward to a return to the art/combat style of FFVII (more anime inspired than later iterations). Seeing as the combat of FFXIII is meant to be modeled after Advent Children's battle sequences, I'm quite hopeful.
