We've got another pair on the Virtual Console (will we never return to the three-game glory days of yore?) and they don't seem to have too much in common. Let's just skip to the talking about them, what do you say?
Spelunker (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): In Spelunker, you play an adventurer who travels to the world's most junk-littered caves to do a little clean up to try to impress a girl he likes who's also a Greenpeace member. Meanwhile, bats (which love cave junk, because of how much easier it makes echolocation) try to kill you. ... Or something like that.
Super R-Type(Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): If you don't want to put your fist through a wall, you'd probably best avoiding Super R-Type, known for its high difficulty and lack of check points. But maybe you want to put your fist through a wall. Maybe you have a dilapidated wall that needs removing, or are considering adding some new fist-shaped windows. If so, Super R-Type is there for you.
What is thie excitment of adding 'super' to everything.
Trust me, its only a matter of time we see the likes of:
Super Halo Super God of war: Kratos' revenge Super Metal Gear Solid: the guns of the educated Ultra Mario Giga Mario Super Ultra Mario Ultra Giga Mario Super Giga Mario Super Ultra Giga Mario
It doesn't end, on the topic at hand, R-type looks tempting, might check that out :)
Super was predominantly added for the SNES era to show the leap from old to new. Just as a few GBA games added "Advanced", and the obvious "64" and "DS". A good idea what with Nintendo being a very old company with many releases from the same IPs.
Sonic could never do it because there already was Super Sonic. Megaman already has Mega etcecetccecetec.
You made a typo there. Your comment should have read: "I'm a 13 retard who wouldn't know a classic game if it bit me in the arse, so all of my opinions can be safely ignored"
why didn't the guy in the video get the bag of money at the bottom of the long rope? I mean it was right there. If I was alone in a cave, and I saw a bag of money just sitting all alone, I probably would grab it.
I can't remember the last time I downloaded a VC game.
Unlike Knowthyself though its because I barely have time to play what I have. I'm terrible at gaming at the minute because a lot happening other places. I'm now on Easter holidays for 3 weeks so I plan to get some gaming in. Methinks it's time to finish Super Mario Galaxy and Paper Mario (1/3 of the VC games I've got).
So many great VC games but I either a) Have them - mostly not except a selevt few N64 games or b) I don't have the time to play them.
I think I'll wait it out until WiiWare comes. It looks like has amazing games. I hope that Galaxy Wars releases the mini game from XBLA (yes I know Galaxy Wars: Retre Evolved is out and includes the game but not sure if I can put that game above the numerous games I want and haven't got yet - even Zack and Wiki isn't a gurantee although I want to try it out sometime at least.)
I would really like to see 3 or 4 vc titles a week, I would like to see more translations of titles that never were localized, especially rpgs, and would like square-enix to release their large backlist on the vc. I would also like to see pc games on there, like system shock, star control or freddy pharkas. It seems less likely to happen anytime soon with wiiware gearing up. If chrontrigger, secret of mana, or even terranigma were to show up, it would harm the fledgling wiiware venture.
Are you guys really expecting much for the next three months on the VC? Nintendo just released Brawl and Mario Kart is coming next month, so it's safe to say they don't give a crap about what comes out on the VC for the time being. Expect Majora's Mask and the original Smash Bros in the summer or something. It sucks 'cause I've been waiting for Majora's Mask for a long time now lol.
Its funny that the preview here notes that super R-type is hard and not a word about how hard spelunker is. The writer probably never played it since spelunker is one of the hardest and most annoying and punishing games on the NES, and its far harder then super R-Type ever was.
So the point of Spelunker is to run around and collect dildos, vibrators, bags of money, bombs and keys. Then throw in a bat that tries to shit on you. Hmmmmm.
