Christina Aguilera's blasphemous Donkey Kong art
12
When we first embarked on our blogging careers, fresh-faced and full of hope, there were titles that we never expected to use. "Christina Aguilera's blasphemous Donkey Kong art," it's fair to say, was one such example.
Yet the world moves in mysterious ways, and so here we are, blogging about how pop songstress Christina Aguilera has hung the original version of the above artwork on the wall of her baby's nursery. That's right, folks: while Michael dangles his kids from balconies, and Britney has hers taken away, Christina surrounds her offspring with awesome Nintendo artwork. Titled "The Last Supper," this particular piece is by the artist Misha, and was created for the 2006 I Am 8-Bit Show.
Incidentally, if you want to be just like Christina -- and with an attitude to child-rearing like hers, who wouldn't harbor such aspirations? -- then great news! Prints of the above piece are available now at the Gallery1988 website for $75. That's ... actually tempting.

I understand this piece of art and although I consider myself an avid follower of Christ, I don't think its that bad.
In my opinion, its blasphemy that Donkey Kong is considered the "Jesus" figure. Mario is obviously the better choice with him always saving the princess and Nintendo.
*On a side note, I just discovered that Donkey Kong isn't the original Donkey Kong from the 16-bit nes days, that was actually Cranky Kong. Just wanted to pass that on to everyone who didn't know*

Maybe I'm taking this much too seriously, but there's no way Donkey Kong is Christ. Almost any other character in the painting would be more appropriate. Personally, I'd go with Link. The eternal hero that vanquishes evil and then disappears, only to be resurrected for the inevitable next installment in the series.

What I found interesting about the painting is that there are little mushrooms on the plates beneath the characters, and that Donkey Kong gets the poison or shrink mushroom.

What I found interesting is that there are a number of non-Nintendo characters on a piece that this site defines as "Nintendo artwork."
How do you think that makes Namco feel?

I like how they're all eating mushrooms.

If DK is Christ, does that mean Mario is Judas.
Does he get 40 coins for killing him?

Cute, and I don't think it's blasphemous. Worshipping Donkey Kong as the son of God would be blasphemous. And I can list so many things wrong with this picture if one was actually trying to make it a mock of The Last Supper.
Of course, I agree, DK is definitely a poor representation of Jesus, DK has had his times of villianry. Link probably would work best, Mario has also had his bad streaks.

That's a pretty amusing piece of artwork, and my respect for Christina has just gone up a notch.

Obviously the point here is that although Jesus and Donkey Kong are equally imaginative characters, DK has more interesting friends.
