Cosplayer gathering breaks Guinness record (where none existed)

The Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition succeeded in recording the "The Largest Gathering of Games Characters" (cosplayers) at the Millennium Bridge in London this morning. Considering there was no record before, the gathering of 80 cosplayers beat the former record by a lot. Gamespot UK braved the brisk weather to take photos of the event and even participate.

Hopefully the next time Guinness decides to hold an official gathering they'll give a little more warning and hold it at any video game or cosplay convention where the meager turnout of 80 will be blown away. Might we suggest PAX for the next attempt? Oh well, nice first attempt, congrats to all who participated!

Whoever cosplayed as Spyro is my hero. That is the best costume I've ever seen.

unfortunately, Universal kept the rights to the franchise...I'm still hoping Insomniac decides to buy it back...

Spyro looks amazing.

Also, don't take the record gathering to PAX. AnimeExpo or Otakon (depending on if there is a preference of which coast) would be the best venue. There are way more than 80 videogame cosplayers at either convention. Hell, there's more than 80 Kingdom Hearts cosplayers at the con, and that's just from one game.

That old, overweight guy cosplaying mario made me laugh.

What time? I was in London this morning, and I crossed the bridge, I ain't seen no cosplayers :S

Oh, next to her is our ambiguously emo hero as well, and I think Akihiko next to him. Hard to tell since he's behind a gorilla. I also see a Guybrush Threepwood, Vincent Valentine, Phoenix Wright, and Pac-Man.

If capcom does lose the lawsuit over Dead Rising, just replace the zombies with cosplay people. I'd buy that in a second just to slaughter 'em all.

I'm pretty sure japanese people can get 10 times more people to cosplay on one place at one time.

Heck, I've seen that broken at Otakon just in cosplay picture gatherings for one particular series. If Otakon asks everyone dressed as someone in Brawl to show up, they'll blow that record away this year.

Spryo looks jumped up on acid, freaking out because all these weirdos are wandering around. Either that or he should have worn gloves.

0Er, if you 'break' a non-existant record, it's called SETTING the record. A correct title would have been "Cosplayer gathering sets Guinness record".

Hmm, don't know how that 0 got there.

If you go to comiket, you'd see hundreds of crazy people dressed up like various characters etc. They don't even try to confirm that their records are even records anymore -_-
