Zootsoot and Gh0st, if you look at the individual aspects of The Beatles they're not that impressive, but your missing the point of what they did when they came together. First of all Elvis didn't even write his own music. Jimi Hendrix was an amazing guitarist, but no one counts The Jimi Hendrix Experience as an amazing band, he was an individual. I don't think anyone but Pink Floyd fans have even heard of Saucerful of Secrets, and if Roger Waters and David Gilmour simpy can't hold a candle to the Lennon/McCartney songwriting duo. The Stones have no where near the appeal of The Beatles, and have you seen Their Satanic Majesties Request, it was a Sgt. Pepper wannabee album.

Do not discredit The Beatles as overrated, they simply couldn't garnered the sales and popularity they did. I don't think that many people were fooled by "matching outfits."

Their influence on the music world will always be more profound then Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones.

How can you justify the claim that Waters/Gilmour were not as good as Lennon/McCartney? The Wall alone, is better than any Beatles album created. (Also a better movie than the Sgt Pepper movie) I would also note that Dark Side and Animals were also better than any single album that the Beatles created.

I don't argue that the Beatles had a greater impact on modern music. However that influence is unjustifiable and unfortunate as it is the sole reason why most of today's music is complete garbage. If we were to draw a family tree of Rock and Roll you would see that music stemming from the influences of Floyd and the Stones is just better.

Don't compare the Yellow Submarine movie to The Wall. The Beatles were under contract and decided to throw out a movie in which they didn't have to act.

And the Lennon/McCartney songwriting talent is miles above Waters/Gilmour.

You may think that they're better, but your in the minority.... for a reason.

Find a credible source that states Pink Floyd as the best band ever in a list of greatest bands.

It's impossible to say that the list of musicians who were influenced by Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones are better because every single modern artist was influenced in some way by The Beatles.

Ok.. for those of you that say that the Beatles are not so much of an influence for the music industries of today and their talents are not as of the likes of Floyd or the Stones, or even Jimmy (although I give he IS ansd will ever be the best guitarrist ever... AMEN), here is a couple facts:

1. If you like Hendrix amplifier noise and reverberation, the first time this "noise" was heard on a record it was actually made by Lennon in I Feel Fine (Rubber Soul, recorded on 1964). Hendrix started with the amps on 66.
2. Lennon and McCartney wrote the Stone's second number one hit bc they had no ideas and they needed a follow up song. Enter "I Wanna Be Your Man" (singed later on by Ringo on the album "With The Beatles", 1963).
3. You like MTV? well the music video was a Beatles' sort of invention (they were called music-in-film). The video for Help was first bc of the movie, but later tired of not hearing themselves over a crazed fan crowd they decided not to tour again to promote their music instead they would film themselves playing the songs and send them to tv shows (Ed Sullivan's show being the first in America to get one of their videos)
4. Magical Mistery Tour evn though weird and creepy sometimes is actually mostly a subject to any film student, not for its commerciality but to the artistic fell of it. Let;s remember we are talking the sixties and its psychodelic tendencies.
5. Oh yeah and they were the first ones to have a "Hidden Track" in te industry... ever, enter "Her Majesty" (Abbey Road, 1969, never credited in the original pocket and after 20 minutes of silence after THE END making it a BONUS TRACK.
6. Sargent Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band was released in Friday June 1, 1967... 2 days later, Jimmy Hendrix was covering the song in front of a crowd that included George and Paul. And jimmy didn't not cover poppy tunes, he covered great songs (Dylan's All Along The Watchtower anyone?, Purple Haze?)

Then again, even though George was not Jimmy, and the reason they were Great was because of the cohesiveness of the band and the fact that everyone loved and contributed their part and their personalities. this would make a hell of a better gem in Rockband than in Guitar Hero. Maybe in Sitar Hero... (if you get the joke you do know Beatles and American Idol, lol)
Anyhow....
