Last week's European Xbox 360 price cut looks to have been a huge success with retailers seeing hardware fly off shelves in greater numbers over the weekend. 40% more 360 sales to be exact. Chart-Track's 40% increase in 360 sales estimate is great news for team Redmond, but the increase in sales doesn't equate to continued success seeing that the that it could potentially be the result of the Easter holiday. So, we'll have to keep an eye on European 360 sales in the weeks to come to verify its success. All said, Europe is happy to see a 360 price cut, retailers are happy to see a 360 price cut and Microsoft is happy to see a 360 price cut, because their sales have increased. Now only if they'd share the price cut love with us in good old North America ... mmm?

Canada got some price cuts before Europe did (although that was merely bringing prices more in line with the near-parity currency to the US). Last I knew, we were still part of North America.

I doubt US will get a price cut. They still pay less than Europe even after our price cut...and americans still whine that it costs to much....cheap skates!

I know what you mean SH. I know one guy with a Wii he never uses but I don't anybody with a PS3. One guy was saving up for one but he eventually spent the money on a new M-4gery.
I don't one person with a PS3. Everybody has 360's.

Hang on, i just checked, you americans still have cheaper consoles, give everyone else a price cut and make it even, and make our live cheaper since we get about half what you have, you get everything first. I have been on the UK rock band waiting list since last october, it's sickening.

I think the sales increase will continue. It's a good time for the 360 to be cheaper, what with R6V2 round the corner and GTAIV on the way.

You can already get an Xbox 360 for super cheap! And the games cost nothing compared to what we have to pay!

This isn't really a discount, but rather a currency exchange correction. Relative to US prices, it's still more expensive to purchase in the UK. The US dollar is dropping so fast, that the launch price is completely out of line.
Arcade = 159 GBP = US$ 321 (BestBuy = $280)
Premium = 199 GBP = US$ 402 (BestBuy = $350)
Elite = 259 GBP = US$ 523 (BestBuy = $450)

I know a guy with a PS3 a Wii and a 360, he uses all 3 of them everyday. He lays the Wii and Ps3 on there sides, the puts a board across them to make a Table for his 360 to set on so he can play it. A bit pricey for a table I will grant you but it really puts the other 2 Consoles to good use!

Trekster Gamer..Your comment made my day :)
I own all next gen consoles as well.. The Wii was just a freakin expensive Zelda player [granted I`ll get Super smash bros once it comes out in Europe] and the PS3..a pretty nice Bluray player actually.
I´ll try the "table setup" you described..Sounds perfectly useful ;)
Cheers

This is not true, taking into consideration the 17.5% VAT in the UK, then the consoles are actually cheaper in the UK than the US:
Arcade = $280 + 17.5% = $329 vs. 321 in UK
Premium = $350 + 17.5% = $411.25 vs. 409 in UK
Elite = $450 + 17.5% = $528.75 vs. 523 in UK
Which means that the US consoles, with the VAT of 17.5% are more expensive than the UK consoles.

Yeah, I don't see a U.S. price cut coming anytime soon after they've already made one here. There's no reason to do so while it's still selling so well.

Well, Gamestop does have a huge poster on the windows saying $279 360 arcade for sale. So that might get stuff going. Not EVERYONE has an HD TV yet anyway.... although... WHY DONT THEY ALREADY!! lol
