PSP gets firmware 3.93 today
The PSP has been gaining a lot of momentum lately, both from an increasingly impressive stable of games and the constant updates to the already feature-rich firmware, which seem to come every time you turn around. In fact, let's turn around and see what we find. ... Hey, it's firmware 3.93!This one, we'll admit, isn't a huge leap forward, just 20 new players for the internet radio feature (we're also assuming there's some under-the-hood modder thwarting as well). But hopefully it's a nice, free surprise on your Tuesday morning.

Didn't DA retire?
I think I read it in PSP fanboy.
Night Elve @ Mar 18th 2008 1:49PM
Just wondering ...
Fernando do you really need to write in every SONY related post?
StrangeBum @ Mar 18th 2008 2:32PM
@ Mr. Escape
About DarkAlex, I thought the same thing, until not too long ago I was perusing through some modding websites and noticed that he has returned from the grave. Which ultimately made me happy.
So I turned on my PSP and found out that I had just updated the firmware to the point of no return on the older model....then I was sad.

Quick question...
Does the PSP support DIVX/XVID files?
And Fernando, is Dark Alex like an M3/R4 adapter?
darkeyez @ Mar 18th 2008 1:16PM
aww...you're all innocent and stuff.
ViagraFiend @ Mar 18th 2008 1:32PM
No it doesnt.
FrankTheCrank @ Mar 18th 2008 1:43PM
That's too bad. I'm on the cusp of buying one. I just picked up a Creative Zen 8GB because my iPhone doesn't support DIVX.
The PS3 does DIVX...why not the PSP? The PSP would be perfect for the DIVX format...but might eat up the UMD movie market.
Moofree @ Mar 18th 2008 2:32PM
Divx/xvid would be cool and all, but I'm happy with h264.
"but might eat up the UMD movie market."
What UMD movie market?
StrangeBum @ Mar 18th 2008 2:35PM
What UMD market?
I really don't think that people are still purchasing UMD movies to play on their PSP any longer. If I remember correctly, Sony's answer to that was going to be the ability to purchase a movie on your PS3 and copy it on over to the MemoryStick on your PSP.
StrangeBum @ Mar 18th 2008 2:35PM
@Moofree
You just beat me to it....lol
Mills and Boom @ Mar 18th 2008 1:29PM
I'll snap this up when its in the M33 flavour.
Sorta use the radio function quite a bit.
nerrrrrrd @ Mar 18th 2008 3:11PM
the custom 'hacked' firmwares are so advance now they even incorporate the ability to update them now through the network update function the PSP has. I wouldn't be surprised if the M33 version is out in 24 hours or less.
PSP is probably the slickest lil electronic device I got gathering dust. Internet radio was neat for like 30 seconds. Got it streaming on wifi and hooked it up to my home stereo. Actually sounded pretty decent... okay now I'm rambling.
Intya @ Mar 18th 2008 3:19PM
I'm running 3.90M33, and the new radio players installed fine on my PSP?
markhill66 @ Mar 18th 2008 3:20PM
After getting rid of my PSP about two years ago, I recently rebought one simply because of the ever growing library of good games.
I find myself less interested in things like hacks and homebrews, and especially things like UMD's and internet radio because I'm spending so much time playing good games like Chains of Olympus.
Mills and Boom @ Mar 18th 2008 6:17PM
I find myself more interested in hacks because the M33 lets me play any PS1 game, not just the limited list of which Sony politely lets me buy again.
Really if someone took away the PSP game playing megachip and sold it for half the price it is now I'd have bought one much sooner. Needs a killer app. Still.

hvnlysoldr @ Apr 8th 2008 11:54PM
It's almost as steady as changing underwear.
What you're supposed to do that daily... Never mind then.
Darkcloud_20019 @ May 8th 2008 12:19AM
Ok I just got a psp today at a used game shop for 50$!! woohoo. It was already moded with the 3.10 oe-a firmware (im guessing thats Dark Alex). What can i do to upgrade this psp. Oh and it's the older model, a little bigger and has the big cloth cover joystick.
