@ Mr. Escape

About DarkAlex, I thought the same thing, until not too long ago I was perusing through some modding websites and noticed that he has returned from the grave. Which ultimately made me happy.

So I turned on my PSP and found out that I had just updated the firmware to the point of no return on the older model....then I was sad.

Quick question...

Does the PSP support DIVX/XVID files?

And Fernando, is Dark Alex like an M3/R4 adapter?

That's too bad. I'm on the cusp of buying one. I just picked up a Creative Zen 8GB because my iPhone doesn't support DIVX.

The PS3 does DIVX...why not the PSP? The PSP would be perfect for the DIVX format...but might eat up the UMD movie market.

Divx/xvid would be cool and all, but I'm happy with h264.

"but might eat up the UMD movie market."
What UMD movie market?

What UMD market?

I really don't think that people are still purchasing UMD movies to play on their PSP any longer. If I remember correctly, Sony's answer to that was going to be the ability to purchase a movie on your PS3 and copy it on over to the MemoryStick on your PSP.

the custom 'hacked' firmwares are so advance now they even incorporate the ability to update them now through the network update function the PSP has. I wouldn't be surprised if the M33 version is out in 24 hours or less.

PSP is probably the slickest lil electronic device I got gathering dust. Internet radio was neat for like 30 seconds. Got it streaming on wifi and hooked it up to my home stereo. Actually sounded pretty decent... okay now I'm rambling.

After getting rid of my PSP about two years ago, I recently rebought one simply because of the ever growing library of good games.

I find myself less interested in things like hacks and homebrews, and especially things like UMD's and internet radio because I'm spending so much time playing good games like Chains of Olympus.

I find myself more interested in hacks because the M33 lets me play any PS1 game, not just the limited list of which Sony politely lets me buy again.

Really if someone took away the PSP game playing megachip and sold it for half the price it is now I'd have bought one much sooner. Needs a killer app. Still.
