You'll need more than your fingers and toes when counting up the number of playable characters in The Behemoth's upcoming (and long awaited) XBLA opus Castle Crashers, as the devs have confirmed that the game's roster will pack in "about" twenty-two unlockable slots.
How exactly characters will be unlocked remains, much like the game's eventual release date, a mystery, with Behemoth blogger Emil teasing only that characters will be added "by various different means." However, given that since it was first announced some two years ago the heavily-stylized side scroller has remained near the top of a short list of titles we cannot wait to sink our thumbs into, it's just shy of hyperbole to say that we'd do anything Castle Crashers asked of us anyway.

26 characters and the starting four all look the same? Odd choice.

How long has this game been in the making? It seems ages ago that I saw gameplay footage for this. It really looks like fun.

I had the great privelege of playing the demo for this one in Melbourne at a small independant game exhibition at ACMI last year. I was going to a different exhibition and then walked into this free thing and then I saw it and I was like WTF!?!? I replayed that sucker about 10 times I am very exited about this thing coming out.

I've played this the last two years at PAX, and each time it's one of the most fun games present. The Behemoth captured the zeitgeist of co-op beat-em-ups with this game. It really can't come soon enough.
Normally I shy away from meticulously working to unlock everything in a game (Brawl aside) but this game might be fun enough to warrant the effort.

I was really excited for this game, but that was long ago... Were they debating which colors to include, but then just said forget it, and went with all 22?
What is taking these guys so long? It can't be that hard to finish this game.

They should have realized Crayola usually goes in 8, 12, 16, and 32 color boxes.
