Cast, date, director revealed for Street Fighter film

Much like how your mom's boyfriend Ralph will never be your "real dad" we're adamant that there's only one Street Fighter movie for us: The awful, awful Jean Claude van Damme vehicle released in 1994. So we have mixed feelings about a new Street Fighter film being put into production, and a slew of new information on the movie isn't making things any clearer.

We already knew that Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li stars Smallville's Kristen Kreuk in the lead role. Joining her is Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, Neil McDonough as M. Bison, Chris Klein as Charlie Nash and (wait for it) Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas as Vega. The flick will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, whose last three films were Doom, Cradle 2 the Grave and Exit Wounds. ... Wow, we think our first paragraph just became officially not ironic. We'll find out what this cracker jack team cooks up in 2009.

You didn't hear about the tragic accident on the set of Timecop that took his life? At least he went young and we don't have to suffer though the later years where he would of done straight to TBS movies.

I cheated and watched it on TV Links before that site got shut down. What a waste of my time...glad it didn't waste my money! I normally don't do that kind of thing, but I couldn't stand to pay for such a crappy-looking movie.

And then I realized about 35% of the way through there t'weren't nothin' to really fap to, so I pulled them back up.

I know you all really wanted to know that.

Finally! Something that will make the DOA movie look decent!

and hollywood births another street fighter flop. It's hard to imagine them being able to make one worse than the last movie, but at least that one has the nostalgic cheese-factor going for it (and Raul Julia).

The casting seems worse than the Van Damne movie; the casting in the old SF movie was more logical than this film (Raul Julia was perfect as skinny bison and the guy who played Zangief, actually looked like Zangief) even though the script was garbage

I'm beginning to think that, aside from the Destructoid podcast crew, I'm the only one who got the joke of the Street Fighter movie. I mean, you have M Bison painting sad clown pictures and somehow people think the movie was trying to be serious?

No, it's not wrong. Trust me, if you go into it expecting camp, it's a great stupid flick. I mean, they even manage to get EVERYONE into their game uniforms by the end....

Think about Dhalsim... as a scrawny genetic scientists... to manages to strip down to loincloth by the end. It's great giggles...

Guess it's time to find out if they ever released that piece of crap on DVD. XD

That Bison quote is made of awesome. Raul Julia delivered it just right.

Why god why. I can barely stomach they still make these games and somehow people still care, but another movie!? Ugh I just spewed all over my cube. Somebody please erase everything about Street Fighter fom the history of mankind, CAST CLOSED!

First Dragon Ball Z, then Speed Racer and now this...HOLLYWOOD Please stopping killing my childhood memories....At least I have Iron Man to look forward to.

Dragonball Z? I remember hearing a rumor about a live-action DBZ flick when I was in 6th grade (this was like 2001), is that project still in the air or something?

The speed racer flick looks deliciously campy, however.
