Haze PS3 exclusivity clouds over ... again

And the dance goes on. The ongoing question of is it or isn't it regarding the PS3 exclusivity of developer Free Radical's upcoming FPS Haze continued this morning with reps from publisher Ubisoft back peddling on an earlier report that the game would never show its face on the Xbox 360. In a new report by CVG, Ubi has 'clarified' things, stating that the game will simply remain an exclusive to Sony's platform "for now." Well now, we're glad that's clear as mud.

While the game was originally announced for both consoles as well as the PC, reports have gone back and forth for some time now as to whether or not the game would be released for multiple platforms, with this latest development seeming to lend weight to the game being a timed exclusive. Even so, with Haze's PS3 release fast approaching and the game still failing to impress when shown during this month's Play.com in London, the big question should not be whether or not the game makes it other platforms, but rather if anyone will care.

Okay to be fair I liked the first Rayman RR for the PS2.

What may happen is something along the RE4 fiasco vein. Haze is released for PS3 'exclusivly', then ported to 360/cpu with director commentary or some throw away.

I think the question that should be asked when making posts like this is this.

Me too, i was always getting the 2 confused. I thought it was the helmet.

And game companies aren't stupid enough to guarantee that there game would never be ported to another system, since a system's user base isn't completely foreseeable. Look at the success of RE4 on the PS2. Capcom would've lost big had they not ported that game.

Well, that was before I bought Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition ($89.99)... the most boring game ever... that's my current biggest buyers remorse.

Yeah I bought the Halo 3 edition that included that silly ferret helmet but I don't regret buying it. Asscreed limited edition by the other hand well the only redeeming thing was the Altair figurine because the rest suck.

Penny Arcade style is good for webcomics but when it is for something serious is quite craptastic. No offense but is really out of place.

Personally I couldn't care less over another worthless FPS. However first it's exclusive, than timed, then delayed, then ps3 exclusive again, than not... will they just make up their minds already. It makes this game shakey at best.

Free Radical's games have never been AMAZING, merely good. What is wrong with looking forward to a game from a good developer?

I think it's not the game that bothers people, it's the hype that surrounds the game that pisses people off.

There's no real hype about it beyond the cloudy exclusivity, which I'm pretty sure nobody really cares about anyway. It's not like anyone is calling it a Halo-killer.

This has been the year of boring and generic FPSs, I won't deny that. It has also been the year of amazing ones.

Haze continues to look great, graphically and gameplay-wise. This is the same thing that happened with Crysis-- every time there's a game coming out that a majority of people won't have the privilege of playing... suddenly it sucks. Nobody cares about it. Nobody ever cared about it. It looks generic. (You only see your arm and a gun and run around shooting people! what a lame idea for a gaming!)

dude, he is talking about the games, about people judging games based on the console and not on its quality....there is no hypocrisy, he agreed that Haze looked great but he wont be playing it because he doesn't like the console, unlike Fernando or Kujel who will say that the game sucks just because it is only for PS3 (thus far)....

I love how people relate Haze to Timeshift, and apparently Resistance, when they dont know anything about the game. Oh No! A yellow mask, it must be like Timeshift! Morons..There are no similarities between the games. Look into a game before you judge it, and people will care. Also, I believe Haze will do way better compared to Timeshift. I dont kno why im wasting my time doin this..but yah.

It's not my fault. If they had made it another color, like teal or orange, i wouldn't be confused. Or, they could've tried to at least spark my interest rather than "boring and generic" visuals and gameplay that I'm seeing now.

Also, you rant on about how haze is nothing like Timeshift, yet you go on to compare then anyway. Real smooth with justifying your point. And comparing it to Haze isn't what i'd call setting the bar high.

I was not directing it to you, considering you sounded "confused" and that you didnt really comment on your thots of the game. And I related it to Timeshift in that way becus I thot that sumone would say they were relating Haze to how bad Timeshift did in sales/popularity.

I still retain some interest in Haze but it has been drifting away with all of the delays and all... I could care less if it were for PS3 or 360 but it looks like a solid FPS to me... I will hold out judgement until I actually get to play the game when its released.... It looks like it will be a timed PS3 exclusive like RE4 was on the GC and PS2... When its released on the 360 it will more than likely have some extra content... If the game completely bombs on the PS3 then another version may never see the light of day.....

I'm trying real hard to understand why this game is garnering so much publicity. It looks mediocre, it's being developed by a known mediocre company, and the game's plot reeks of mediocrity.

Feel like this will be Kane and Lynch part 2. A game we're being force-fed for no reason.

I quit caring about this game last year when it was still on all platforms. Does =anyone= (other then the Sony fanboys) really care about another fps?

Now for the real question:

Will all of us who owned stock in Haze on the 360 get our shares and money back? When they dropped that, I had over 3 thousand shares that just dissappeared one day. Don't these developers know the importance that rides on them doing what they say?

Well I don't think I need to repeat myself on my thoughts of this game(since people before me have already said it). But I will say that this is getting annoying. Just fucking choose already. Is this a multiplatform game or not?

The word "generic" has been used far too much in this topic.. do fanboys have such a limited vocabulary? and yes, i can accept people may not enjoy free radical's games, but calling them a "known mediocre company" is jus being completly narrow minded, timesplitters are 3 of the most praised FPS games, and for a good reason... just because you may not like the games does not mean that they are a mediocre company.. if that was the case i would call Bungie mediocre, but i dont, cos im not a dickhead and i respect that other people enjoy their games...
