- Eurogamer (70/100): "Overall, Vegas 2 feels like an incremental expansion, despite the success of the character-creation feature. The annoying thing is that with a bit more investment these quickfire sequels would feel like true follow-ups, which would go a long way with those of us who've been following the series for the past ten years. As it is, we'll still go to Vegas, but we'll be grumpy on the way home."
- IGN (84/100): "The gameplay in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is awesome; it just isn't as awesome as it was 18 months ago. The main complaint that most gamers are sure to have with RSV2 is that it's simply too similar to the game that we played late in 2006."
- Videogamer.com (80/100): "While Rainbow Six Vegas 2 feels more like an add-on than a proper sequel, that shouldn't stop you picking Ubisoft's latest up. The gun-play is excellent, the production values are top notch and the multiplayer game modes will keep you coming back months down the line."
Metareview -- Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
49
It seems Tom Clancy's latest visit to Las Vegas has yielded strikingly similar results to his 2006 outing: Lots of jumping out of helicopters and being shot at by ambidextrous bandits. Some people like that sort of thing, however, and reviews of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 suggest that Ubisoft's second trip down the strip is just for them. This is your last chance too -- the next Vegas game is that one starring Kevin Pereira.

Like i said before, i'm testing all the characters to see who i'm best with, aside from Kirby and Game and Watch, out of the set i've tested so far (21 out of the 35) i've liked Zelda, Pit, DK, Wolf, Pikachu, and Ike
I don't like Link, Ness, and Lucario, and i'm ambiguous towards the rest, so far.

I don't see how a RSV game can fair well going up against CoD4, espeically one that feels only like an expansion to a two year old game.

Great, now I have a zero chance of ever buying this game, talk about re-hashing and stomping on a franchise.

No, I had it on my list, I was going to pick it up, but like GRAW2 I won't be picking this one up. If there isn't much change to justify the $60 I'm not going to pick it up.
And yes, they are stomping on the franchise. A yearly release schedule for a tactical shooter?!?! Come on, you can't put out quality games with a yearly schedule like that, look at :cough: :cough: EA!
UBI delayed Splinter Cell due to it getting stale and wanted to fine tune it, they should do the same with The Ghosts and The Rainbow team.

I bought it and none of the multiplayer stages are similar. The campaign is great and fills tons of gaps. Plus the best FPS to TPS coversystem has been perfected.
Honestly if you played R6V countless hours and want to give Halo3/CoD4 a break. Then this games perfect for you. Honestly for me it's just a one month filler until GTAIV comes out...

Like in COD4 when you from "shooting from the hip" to pulling the gun up to your shoulder and looking down the barrel in crosshair view.

Oh, with the gun I use, there is nothing like that. Other than that, I wouldn't be able to tell you without switching my primary weapon. but i really don't know.

Yes there is but instead of pulling the left trigger to do it(CoD4), you have to click R3 which is kind of annoying but not so bad once you get used to it.

Ugh this is doing to sound anal, but it's not a prequel. It's a predecessor. A prequel is something releases AFTER that TAKES PLACE before.

Yes, it's more of the same; but it's like ordering the same good meal at the restaurant you enjoyed last time.
It's the kind of "more of the same" sequel people think they want when a series goes from say, something like "Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory" and evolves into "Splinter Cell: Double Agent": people want more of the old "Chaos Theory" way. So when we get that, like here with Vegas2, we say it feels like maybe it's not different enough. I will say that nearly all the assets are the same it seems: soda machines have the same texture maps, some of the terrorists shout out the same things ("Who's with me?" "I'm with YOU!" makes a reprise, for instance.)
Tough to be mad at Vegas2, though: it's got exceptional game play and control, and thankfully, the buttons are all mapped in the same way, something Ubisoft will often change from version to version of popular games.

I bought it and really love it. Plus, not all the reviews are bad, Joystiq just chose the worst ones, for some reason. Game informer gave it a 9.3.

I havent played it yet but I know this : The guys at Ubisoft were making an expansion called "bishop" but as they went along they made so much content that in the end they thought it could hold up as a complete game.
Would you rather have a 4 GB download that would add some story to your game and some tweaks to the multiplayer or This game which is on disc ???

Vegas 2 is good enough for me. I haven't even tried online yet since i have to work in the morning and don't feel like it right now, but the single player is fun.
I'll be getting Dark Sector when it comes out, surely between that, Vegas 2 and COD4 I'll be good until Gears 2 comes out.

I am really looking forward to this. Vegas was by far the most played game on my 360.
What I don't get is this: all the comparisons to CoD4. I got CoD4, and I like it, but it's nothing like Rainbow Six, and at the risk of being flamed, I will say that I actually dug Rainbow Six Vegas FAR more than Call of Duty 4. The cover system is top-notch, and it's just more of a thinking-mans shooter. Something I really like.
The thing I liked the most though about Rainbow Six, is that when you play Vegas online, it's all adults that are good sports and are fun to play with as opposed to all the children you run into when you play CoD or Halo online.
Plus, you haven't really experienced Live to it's fullest potential until you have gotten a few friends to do some co-op terrorist hunt. It's amazing.

I agree, I prefer the way Vegas plays, and I love the cover system. I am sick of COD4, if you ever have to play with random people it's just a giant clusterf0ck with a bunch of douchebags.
