'Fireworks-themed shooter' Big Bang Mini lights up DS

"With Big Bang Mini, we're trying to combine the thrill of an intense action shooter with the beauty of a grand fireworks display," explains Camille Guermonprez, Managing Director of developer Arkedo Studio. "If there's anything players won't like about the game, it will be that they're too involved in striking and dodging to appreciate the light show they're creating." As many a mad scientist has come to learn, your creation can and probably will come back to harm you, with missed firework shots raining down sparks from the sky. You'll want to avoid those, we think.
If you choose to rock it on your DS when it launches this Fall, you'll discover Big Bang Mini is infused with four gameplay modes, a handful of multiplayer options and over 90 levels to explore and explode.

Half the fun of fireworks is hearing the KA-BOOM!
I hope they got the sound down. Maybe there is a headphone mode?

Is there really that big a market for shooters like this? I hear people talk about how Geometry Wars is such a great game but personally I was bored with it after 5 minutes. Am I missing out on some quintessential shooter title here? Or am I a big dummy?

I really like shmup games like this. after playing gradius 5 on ps2 i couldnt get enough of em. went and dl'd a ton of japanese ones which are just impossible, as well as the classics on nes and snes. bought ikaruga for gamecube, rezhd for 360. yeah there is a market for these. this game looks pretty nifty to me too. ill wanna see it in action before i buy it though.

I'm afraid to play this because I don't want to lose any fingers before Guitar Hero On Tour comes out.

This whole Fireworks sub genere is getting larger and large. Boom Boom Rocket, Fantavision, not this? I'll admdt these all look fun but the gameplay is never deep enough to be compelling. Maybe they'll get this one right.

Am I the only one who thinks the title is a bit on the funny side? *Big* Bang *Mini*?

I think it just needs a hyphen or something, like so.
'Big Bang - Mini'
That way it doesn't lend itself off as an oxymoron, seeing as how a Big Bang could be used as a proper noun. Like the theory of creation, or Vegeta's 'Big Bang Attack' (which is over 9000 by the way). And the mini could just reference that it is a miniaturized version of a possible full-size game simply because it's on a handheld. The DS in this case.

Big Bang is probably also coming to Wii... I think that's why this version is the Mini.
