Florida Supreme Court orders Jack Thompson not speak directly to them

The Florida Supreme Court has sent out an official STFU to controversial attorney Jack Thompson, who is not allowed to contact them directly ever again and will need to hire his own attorney to communicate with the Court on his behalf. This is an entirely separate matter from Thompson's Florida Bar trial we're currently awaiting a ruling on.

GamePolitics has the Court's full ruling regaling the numerous abuses by Thompson like submitting pornographic materials, engaging in a "relentless and frivolous pursuit for vindication of his claim that he is being victimized by The Florida Bar," and "continued inability to maintain a minimum standard of decorum and respect for the judicial system to which all litigants, and especially attorneys, must adhere." That's not all, since the ruling Thompson has filed two new motions with the Court, which would technically put him in contempt at this very moment.

What I wish is that the media outlets that put Thompson on, would pay attention to this stuff.

He is a crackpot, he is barely even a lawyer anymore. He has about as much credibility as a snake water salesmen at this point. I have in fact in the past written to various media outlets after he has made an appearance there but none of my pleas were ever answered.

I'm sure that eventually, when Jack is not longer a lawyer, that we'll get news about his blog rants, or newspaper opinion letters or however he'll seek attention. Is we simply looking for someone to scapegoat? Jack Thompson is too easy.

The guy's a hack, and we're better off moving on.

Its funny how the guy just DOESN'T GET IT. Its beyond me how people like this simply don't understand that they are losing all credibility when they whine and moan to the point where no one wants to listen to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did end up getting charged with contempt over this. I don't want to say that he is stupid because that would be very presumptuous of me and secondly he did SOMEHOW manage to pass law school. So instead I will settle on the word retarded...yes. I said it.

haha! Yah i guess it would make sense in their situation too. But I don't hate Sony all too bad. I do own a PS3 (which I just recently bought after my Xbox HD DVD player went down the shitter) and as much as I hate to admit it, it looks like its gonna be Sony's year way more than Microsoft.

So he's not allowed to speak directly to the court - disbarment CONFIRMED. Or at least it might as well be, seeing as in theory a lawyer that can't talk to a court is pretty much useless.

Now, did he know about the ruling before he made those filings? If he did, then it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that he's gone.

You aren't exactly right. The Order states that it is not final until the time for filing a rehearing motion has passed. I haven't checked their rules, but it would generally be 30 days. He wont be held in contempt until after that time.

Anyway, as a lawyer I would pack-up and change careers after such a sanction. The humiliation of it would be hard to get over. Actually, I have never seen someone get such a nasty sanction before - so this is amazing to me.
