Hudson bringing triple-dose of Bomberman to Wii
Wii owners and fans of the adorable lil terrorist Bomberman will be pleased to learn that not one, not two , but three different Bomberman titles are currently in development for the Nintendo console. The latest two include the traditional WiiWare version already announced, as well as a less traditional retail version, due out this June in Japan.
If you're a bit confused, don't worry. The two titles were mixed up in the original Famitsu report, but a representative from Hudson has set the record straight. The WiiWare Bomberman is the classic throwback, while the retail Wii Bomberman will feature 8-player online multiplayer, with new items and Mii support.
This appears to be a different retail title than the minigame-centric Bomberman Land, meaning that Hudson's "big plans" for Bomberman were apparently viciously milking the franchise for all it's worth.

"adorable lil terrorist"
I have a friend in Punjab area of Pakistan. Around two weeks ago, he phoned me up and I could hear faint gunfire in the background. Those words just brought it all back from some reason.

That's stupid, why can't the WiiWare version have online play, new items and Mii support?
Really, no thanks Hudson, I'll go play your only worthwhile Bomberman game this gen, Bomberman LIVE.

bomberman Live was worth it? Because I felt ripped off. And this coming from the guy not offended at the lack of content in Worms.

Bomberman Live WOULD have been worth it if wasn't slowed down to the point where it's like playing in molasses and if the controls weren't so terribly imprecise.
I haven't played every Bomberman game out there, but I honestly have to say that Live was the worst of those I have played.

"viciously milking for all its worth" brings up some lol weird images for me...

Brings up even weirder images if you Google Image Search the phrase.

Bomberman peaked on the Mega Drive.
WiNG @ Mar 20th 2008 10:31AM
WRONG - Peaked at Saturn Bomberman, which was like the MD version but with better graphics and up to TEN PLAYERS.
Nigeria: Cody ChesnuTT Defense Force @ Mar 20th 2008 10:41AM
But who actually got ten people to play, I know I didn't. I love the Saturn but my best Bomberman moments were with the Mega Drive.
Geist @ Mar 20th 2008 7:15PM
Obviously it peaked at Bomberman: Act Zero. Anyone who says otherwise is obviously crazy. CRAZY I SAY HEHEHHaHAHAHAHAHHA!

I don't care about online multiplayer nearly as much as 8-player local play. They could let extra players use Gamecube controllers, or they could make you buddy-up and put four people on Wii remotes and four people would use a classic controller or maybe even a nunchuck. The best would be a combination of all of those, in which case they might as well make it 12 players. Now that would be worth your money!

I will buy two of the three. not gonna buy bomberman land, but the other two will be mine. I love bomberman.

heh, i've been around. work has just been kicking my ass lately
Visor @ Mar 20th 2008 12:18PM
I thought bomberman Live was worth it... up until the point where they started releasing loads of bonus packs.
Bomberman wiiware will be wicked but I wonder if it's a lack of effort from hudson or lack of support from nintendo as to why the Wiiware title isn't online.
jeff @ Mar 20th 2008 2:31PM
Bomerman series is so boring. Bomerman Land was the worst game I have ever played. Really. I liked ET better than that game.
mr mobius @ Mar 20th 2008 2:33PM
So when Nintendo said no retro games on WiiWare, that doesn't include remakes of retro games? I guess then that only means that all the retro games are on VC. I probably won't buy any and if I do buy 1 then it'll be the only one I get.
Out of interest, how many Bomberman games are already on the VC? I know of at least one.
Mr Khan @ Mar 20th 2008 6:35PM
So, wait, the WiiWare version ISN'T online? I thought it was
If not, i won't go for it. Bomberman '93 gives you five player local...
