Lost Planet Colonies has new first-person mode
Other bonus modes include the self-explanatory Score Attack, a gauntlet of boss fights in Trial Battle Mode and Off Limit Mode, which lets you replay levels at a much greater speed with unlimited ammo. We've embedded a video of Off Limit after the break. Lost Planet: Colonies is coming May 27 on PC and Xbox 360 (still no PS3 confirmation) for $30.

That's not very elaborate is it? It's like Half-Life where you have just a camera and a floating gun, with no body, or even hands.
There's not even a gun! It's like a floating muzzle flare.

I guess you haven't played the original Ghost Recon, SOCOM, the original Rainbow Six...
wootman @ Mar 20th 2008 11:58PM

I think he's using Half-Life as a term for FPS.
"That's not very elaborate is it? It's like a FPS where you have just a camera..." Sound better?
capt_carl @ Mar 20th 2008 10:40PM
I'm not really digging Lost Planet as a FPS...
CPTStewart @ Mar 20th 2008 10:41PM
Ummm... In the original Lost Planet you could hit up on the D-Pad and get into first person mode just like in this video...
I thought it was going to be like a real FPS with gun and hands in the frame.

"... Off Limit Mode, which lets you replay levels at a much greater speed..."
So, does that mean Wayne will move at a normal speed now - as opposed to his tank-link movements in the original?

EDIT:
Actually watched the video and everything actually looks like it's been sped up - enemies included.

giantenemycrab @ Mar 20th 2008 10:45PM

Sorry to post off-topic guys, but this is probably as good a place as any...
What's up with the Frontline ad on Joystiq.com? It's loud and annoying for those of use trying to check this site (several times) daily while at work. the last thing I need is everyone in the office realizing that I'm not being productive.
Does any else share the sentiment of "make it go away please"?

Firefox + AdBlock = bliss. :)

Since I broke my original copy, I could do with Colonies, better online and 30$ is a win for me.

Too bad the PC port was absolutely terrible. Had they put a little effort into it, I might consider buying it...

Oh the original Rainbow Six. I remember the days of now gun. It was rather.. different.
Think i'll stick to 3rd person in this no matter what.
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 12th 2008 5:15PM
Why oh why do games make Ice and Water worlds so frustrating. You'd think he'd at least move faster than a slug with his super suit on.
