Today, Microsoft announced that former MD of Nintendo Europe and I-play exec David Gosen has been appointed as the vice president of strategic marketing in Europe. After the recent price drop in the European region, Gosen will be tasked to raise awareness of the Xbox 360 brand in a heavily Sony supported continent."I'm very excited to be part of Microsoft IEB at this key stage in the gaming industry," Gosen said. "Xbox 360 is now a mass-market gaming console, and with the recent ERP reduction we're poised to open the market for Xbox 360 even wider."
Gosen also brings mass market experience to Microsoft from B Sky B, Pepsico and Coca-Cola & Schweppes Beverages, where he held senior positions.
Microsoft Europe VP Chris Lewis echoed his own excitement for the future of the console's status in the European region telling GamesIndustry.biz, "with David leading strategic marketing, Phil Spencer leading MGS in Europe, and Richard Teversham as business and strategy director, we are in a great position to leverage Xbox 360's European success to further widen the market for Xbox as a mass-market proposition."
