New Rock Band Store reminds us full albums are still 'coming soon'
One thing we noticed when perusing over these hawt new pics of the in-game Rock Band music store was a listing for "Albums (Coming Soon)." Downloadable albums are something we've heard about since July 2007, with Nirvana's Nevermind and The Who's Who's Next cited as the first contenders.
When contacted for a statement, a Harmonix spokesperson told us, "No ETA yet - expect an announcement soon." For now, all we can recommend is you download the patch later this week and ogle at the inaccessible Albums tab, dreaming of the day when the text goes from light grey to white.

This game is totally rad. However with this disclaimer in place, Who's Next was the motivating factor for plunking down nearly $200 on this thing. Gimme my album dammit!

If I own the album already, why should I have to pay for it again? This is bullshit. I should be able to show proof that I own the album and be allowed to download those tracks.
This is a money grab by the music publishers and the RIAA.
frostyfrog @ Mar 20th 2008 10:20AM
And why should you not have to pay for the development and testing that Harmonix puts into each and every downloadable song ? My copy of Who's Next sure as hell doesn't give me the ability to play along with it, last time I checked.

A friend of mine gave me his copy of Tetris for the GB several years ago. Am I entitled to the other several hundred Tetris variants?

How the hell and whose job would it be to verify this for you? Man that is dumb... Get a job you ignorant douche bag.

Your not buying the music your buying the tracks of data, animation, and 4 sets of instrument tabs to play... get over it.

In other news, I just heard that Duke Nukem Forever is also "Coming Soon".

Come on, OK Computer!
grapejoos @ Mar 20th 2008 1:52PM
OK Computer would be so rad. There are a few songs with not a lot going on with the guitar, but for Airbag, Paranoid Android, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Lucky, etc., I'd take it over the Bends. That said, I'd be ecstatic for either.
Cesaria @ Mar 20th 2008 4:16PM
Come on every Radiohead album ever! Wait, Kid A and Amnesiac wouldn't make alot of sense, really.
Alienhead @ Mar 20th 2008 1:32PM
I would rather have The Bends. Better guitar parts.
modified @ Mar 20th 2008 1:39PM
It would be awesome if when you bought a CD it came with a download code for the album. Silly me though, that would mean they can't sell you the album twice!
TimDaleYo @ Mar 20th 2008 6:59PM
They should have somehow made it so that you could convert any file off of a music CD or from your PC into Rock Band music.
That'd be sweet if you ask me.
