Yeah, right... they just sell thousands of consoles and SSBB copies last week...

And if the sales slow, they can do that thing that the others (PS3 and 360) have done... a price cut...

And then different colors (like the others too)

... and then bundles (like the ones in the other systems too, you know, to try and sell more consoles giving away free movies and $60 games)

Nintendo still have a lot of cards to play.

Why make a new IP? What's the point of taking a game and change the characters, like every generic shooter?

Besides... Nintendo has created more new IP's than Sony.

Yikes, if video games devs have the same mentality as you, Fernando, the video game industry would eventually grind to a hault..

@Fernando

"Besides... Nintendo has created more new IP's than Sony."

This has nothing to do with Sony so what's your point???? Sony has released a lot of new IP's on the PS3 platform. Off the top of my head I can think of Lair, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and Resistance. In fact these were some of the top games on the platform during its first year. Obviously this year a lot of releases will be rehashes but all highly anticipated. There are also some good exclusive new IP's like Haze, Afrika, White Knight Chronicles and Heavy Rain. Also, LA Noire could still be an exclusive although I question this after the latest rumor was posted.

Anyway.....

I think that Nintendo's biggest problem is going to be the rest of the year after Mario Kart in terms of exclusives. From what I have seen they don't have any new or old IP's coming out that look any good. Samba De Amigo and the Wii Music Orchastreal game could be good but other than that the titles are really lacking. I think we could see the stock drop because you can't expect this console shortage to go on for so long and eventually not hurt sales.

Thos show how you PS3 fanboys can be very stupid...

So, just because Nintendo has ot announced more titles after Mario Kart... so, that means that thats the last game?

I have read a lot of times: "So, after Mario Kart, is over for Nintendo, they don't have anymore games" Thats the most stupid thing ever...

By your logic, after Final Fantasy XIII there will not be any more PS3 game.

Why so quick to pull the fanboy card out of your a$$??? I just made a simple point and you go and get all mad and puffy on me. I own all the consoles and can look at this from an objective point of view. All I was saying is that the big time Wii exclusives that we know of for 2008 are Wii Fit, SSBB and MArio Kart. I even mentioned Samba De Amigo and the Music Orchastra game from Nintendo. DOnt take stuff so personal and go all willy nily calling someone a fanboy when you Sir are the biggest Zealot and fanboy on the entire site. From the list I have seen comparing the Wii's exclusive lineup in 2008 and the 360 & PS3 the Wii does not appear to have as many good exclusives. So it could be a simple fact of the games not being announced or it could be that they plan for a big 2009. I have no idea. You need to learn not to take things to hear and have an adult discussion on the matter.

Seriously everyone has their favorite games and I think just like you love SSBB and MArio Kart other love FF & MGS just as much or Ninja Gaiden and Gears Of War. You have to be such a snotty brat about and pull the famboy card out of your a$$. Grow Up. Your the one who mentioned Sony anyway in a Nintendo post because you have such contempt in your heart.

I have also ranted and called people fanboys when I shouldn't have. I am just going to chalk your comments up to wearing your heart on your sleeve and give you the benefit of the doubt.

As per your claim on new IP's I gave you 4 off the top of my head that released on the PS3 last year. Tell me all the Nintendo IP's that were in such larger numbers than the PS3 last year. Because I am dying to hear them. Let Me guess your going to call Donkey Kong Barrell Blast, Galaxy and the scuba diving games, am I right?

this coming from the same guy who just tried to defend nintendo by saying why make new IPs? I guess some people really are happy playing the same thing for 20 years.

and no there will be more games after mario kart. There will be another animal crossing, another star fox, another f-zero, another donkey kong, another kirby. Then we get to the next console where there will be ANOTHER mario, ANOTHER zelda, and ANOTHER ssb.

In between these titles will be mountains and mountains of shit titles. Seriously this has been going on for years now how can some of you not get this by now?

Yeah you guys, because true innovation comes through a different graphic for your guy in your same-ass shooter!

There are fantards who would call Mario Kart a rehash of Mario Galaxy because the character is the same. These people need to be fed to wild animals.

Besides, Fernando already said it. Let's face it, fantards, the sheer amount of content in Smash Brothers is objective proof of how many different franchises Nintendo has created. Just because they're not making a new one every week doesn't mean you should start puking all over the internet about it.

I thoroughly enjoy waiting on the new Zeldas and the new Metroids. New marios, yes, but to a lesser degree (only the 3D platformers, thanks.). It is my personal opinion that these are the only 3 franchises that Nintendo, nay, anyone can get away with repeating this many times.

Don't forget about WiiWare launch in May, and the secret game that Reggie mentioned...

Ad the game from Monolith Soft... and the game from Factor 5... and don't forget about the sales that Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers will boost in Japan.

And still a lot of Nintendo franchises to be released.

Well even so I do not think Wii fit will have any staying power and will suffer a similar fate as Time Crisis 3's Gun Con adapter. Your basicaly paying a lot of money for a periphial that can only be used (to this point) for one game. When you really look at it SSBB, Mario Kart and Wii fit are the only must have (somewhat must have in Wii fits case) exclusives for 2008. It all looks good now but I don't think that Wii Fit will have the same legs as Mario Kart and SSBB. I could be wrong of course.

Wii Fit? Please tell me you're joking. Honestly, I can see Wii eventually slowing down in sales, but not really any time soon. The demand on it is still pretty insane, although it's likely due to everyone who scoops up every last Wii in sight in hopes of selling them for $400-500 still. Hardly any worthwhile third-party games get the appropriate levels of attention, as Nintendo fanboys only buy games that're made by Nintendo. It's actually pretty sad.

Honestly, while I own a Wii, I'd be much happier if it hadn't caught on so well with the mainstream. I have a feeling that the games would be better as a whole.

Wow. The PSFanboys are really out enmass tonight. Getting pissy in your high chair are we now? This weekend the Wii will still be higher than the PS3 and XBox 360 in Japan when it's posted on Joystiq. Same will apply in America and Europe as well actually.

I have to agree with Samfish and Fernando. The Wii is far from dead. It is still sold out in many places and no, not because Nintendo is 'restricting stock to make it seem like there is a demand.'

There will be many games to come out after Mario Kart Wii, and they'll not be absolute crap. If I was a PS3 fanboy I'd not go about bragging about Lair after the amount of shit has been written about it in reviews and such. I'd also not go bitching about the same games over and over. Ratchet and Clank, Tony Hawk, Colin McRae, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot (rip off of Mario btw) etc have had numerous games, and each the damn same (except the Crash karting games which ripped off Mario Kart immensely).

It's okay fanboys, you had your time 2 generations ago, now just let the tears flow and get over it you little whiny bitches.

I expected this sooner or later (sooner then then later I might add), a system that mostly women and cheap parents buy doesn't bowed well in this industry. Most women over 24 don't really play games and kids who's parents bought them a Wii for Christmas want fun games and not that mini game shit. BTW Wii Fit will phail horribly, no one with disposable income will waste money on that shit, well no one who doesn't take it in the ass.

Honestly, now that SSBB is out I have nothing to look forward to with my Wii. It was that game, along with Mario Galaxy, which was making me hold onto the console and not reselling it. And while SSBB is a great game I'm already growing bored with it because of it's craptacular online system.

These people aren't saying that the Wii is doomed, their saying the stock has peaked and it isn't a good idea to buy it at this point. People make it sound like they're writing the obit for the system.

And one big reason the stock has peaked? America is lettig its dollar go down the toilet. Amazing.

Well, the same thing can be said about other companies like, Capcom, Konami, SNK and SquareEnix I know they don't release hardware. but they do release software.

Example: Another Rock Man, Another Final Fantasy, Another Metal Gear Solid, Another King of Fighters. The list can go on and on.

So its not only Nintendo, its everyone.

This thread to me just shows how gamers have no fucking idea how the industry works and if they were in charge we would all go to hell.

Actually, they kind of are. These are the same people that keep on wanting the same game packaged over and over again from there beloved Third Parties AKA Copy Machines.

It seems in this industry every time we take one step forward we take 5 steps back and thus are the laughing stocks again for the other entertainment venues for the same two reasons:

1) Greedy ungrateful money grubbing publishers who have no artistic or creative bone in there body.

2) Viewers like you who support these fucks because you are more brain dead then they are.

Despite KBC Securities Japan's recent predictions that Nintendo has hit a peak due to worries that Wii and DS sales will slow after "explosive growth" in the last year, some think that the system's sales figures are about to double. Exhibit one: Wii Fit's US debut. Exhibit two: See Exhibit one.

Seriously people, the casual market is about 10 times the size of the "hard core" market, and if Wii Fit is even a 5th of the success that Wii Sports was with that crowd, (not to mention the fanboys that will purchase anything stamped with Nintendo) this generation is close to a done deal for Nintendo. Bet that!
