Rock Band surpasses 6 million song downloads
Although we'll probably never get a straight answer, it would be nice to find out how much of an impact the new Rock Band music store is expected to make on sales. Having all that DLC available from directly inside the game, rather than making potential customers wander through the virtual aisles of the Xbox Marketplace or PlayStation Store, should make some noticeable difference.

Music publishers really know how to f*ck you. How many times can you pay for the same song? Now I have to buy them again? So I can play them in my guitar game? What's next, paying to hear them in my favorite game?
No wonder the RIAA is so hated and revered.

depends on your preferences...for example I like most of the songs from the DDR games compare to Rock Band and Guitar Hero (even including their DLC songs...)
Seriously, Frank. A song's value is increased when it's thrown in Rock Band just because of all the stuff you now do with it.
Nice one, haha, well, I understand what you say, since DLC is a form of revenue, but the technology is there, look at beats, Sony can take advantage of it and make their own music game(aside from beats), but then again, its Sony, so I doubt they'll do so....
That is why the main disc is filled with the commercially successful songs like 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Enter Sandman', while better but lesser-known tracks by the same artist are offered through DLC.
But you're contention that the 'good stuff will be saved for DLC' is misinformed, and wouldn't work financially.
Harmonix... be the ninja.
Quick note, the game is seriously lacking 80's tunes.

Potential flaws in my logic:
RedOctane's claim that Guitar Hero II would have the most DLC ever was made after Harmonix was snapped up. Also, I have no idea if RedOctane develops any of the songs, or simply handles publishing and peripherals.
This is dark_inchworm's bullshit analysis for the day. Thank you for reading!
We go bar to bar with this game in South Florida and get paid for all the customers it brings in. Without all the DLC I think people would get tired of the same old songs and we wouldn't be able to keep this going.
Alright, now the blatant plug...check out the videos we just put up of our first bar night and our "performance" at the 2008 ING Miami Marathon:

Though I was disappointed with whoever did the vocals for Last Train to Clarksville. I can understand maybe the masters weren't available or whatever, but couldn't they just get Mickey Dolenz to do it? Dude is NOT that busy these days.

And no, they're surprisingly durable. My roommate hammers the shit out of mine and it's still chugging along just fine. (knock on wood)
