We've known about its existence for about a month, and now we get to know what cult classic Flash game Defend Your Castle will look like when it come to Nintendo's Wii Ware service. The answer, it turns out, is pretty freakin' cute.
Compared to the original Flash version, the Wii Ware Defend Your Castle sports a significant lack of blood, perhaps not surprising for the family-friendly system. What is pleasantly surprising is the new paper cutout aesthetic, which reminds us of a cross between Paper Mario and Pencil Whipped. We're also fond of the robust more robust animation, which doesn't miss a beat even when hundreds of stick figures storm the castle in the trailer's thrilling multiplayer co-op finale. We haven't seen such an effective mix of cuteness and carnage since the town's last kitten massacre (warning: this last link is not for fans of kittens).

You could just watch the kitty video a few dozen times between levels.

Seriously.
Obviously the cat wasn't really killed, but it was strapped to a board, which apparently wasn't very pleasant - based on the cat's reaction (and who knows how many takes that took to shoot).
Definitely fucked up.

Thanks Internet (4chan,ytmnd cough) now I can watch scenes such as those and feel just slightly offended...and I'm probably going to burn in hell but I guess I'll have to with that.
This is internet common knowledge but whatever you do never google cats or kittens, toast and Doom music together.

Of course the cat wasn't killed but yeah the cat didn't seem very happy about being strapped.
I know how cat blood looks like, again thanks /b/ for showing me things I didn't want it to see.Now if you excuse me I have to get back on Unsee and repress those memories.
(Hey I got it NEJCMACF

Huh, so it says the link is not for fans of kittens, but you click on it anyway, just for something to bitch about. Awesome.
Note: I don't support animal violence so I DIDN'T check it out. See how simple it is?

Actually I would ignore it too but Nato comment kind of make me curious.
Again curiosity and the internet = a very bad combo.

Ouch, did I touch a nerve? Did I call you on your bullshit?
Hey, kitten Massacre, but it says not for fans of kittens, and I love cats, I think I'll check it out. I wonder what massacre means?
I do agree with you that (whatever it is) probably is in poor taste, and shouldn't have been in this article.

If someone offered me free food and board for my entire life for 20 seconds of extremely mild discomfort, I would take that deal in a second.

I agree with NATO_Duke. Even with the warning, that is appalling poor judgment, Joystiq. Epic fail.

Ugh...I dunno. The WiiWare version seems to be lacking what I liked about the flash game. Nevermind the blood, I think it's funnier that to convert an enemy, a column of light breaks from the sky to do it...not drop them in a bucket of paint. Eww. And the menus just look all cluttered and annoying, not to mention the grappling icon, couldn't they come up with something less obtrusive?
Though, i gotta admit the co-op kinda make me feel a lil tingly with glee.

You forgot that BEFORE you have the "insta-convert" you have the "pit of conversion" that you manually drop them into.

Well the graphic style is both nice and strangely crappy at the same time but the crappy part is intended so guess is okay. I like when a dev show graphical style instead of fake realisms with stuff like Brownish/Grayish atmospheres.
The problem is that there are several variations of a game such defend your castle already and most of them are free. This would be better in the Xbox live or PSN.

I love the art style! So unique and makes it look like a high school play with the random clouds hanging in the background and the pasted ransom (not to be confused with James Ransom-Wiley) note look of it.

Excuse me, but it takes more than adding a Photoshop drop shadow to clip art to achieve style.

Wow, I remember playing this game ALL DAY in class on the comp. Nice to see it'll be coming to console... THough it seems the DS would work better (I'd like it to be portable, personally).
