Germans reveal Ticket to Ride, rate other XBLA games
The German Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) is no stranger to revealing unannounced titles and Xblah.net points out they've done it again. The highlight for fans of XBLA board game translations like Catan and Carcassonne is that Zug um Zug Ticket to Ride is ready to build railways on Xbox 360.
Other games rated by the USK are Penny Arcade's OtR-SPD, RooGoo, and Golf: Tee it Up! None of these ratings mean the games are coming out soon, but at least they're on their way.

Does anyone else here play Carcassone or Catan on Live? If so add me - supapaypamawio

It's great that these games are exposing more people to the world of boardgames beyond Monopoly and Scrabble but there's still something to be said for gathering people in the flesh around a table to play the analog version.

I find that playing the XBLA versions makes me hunger for the live, too. Especially since the Catan and Carcassonne AIs on the most difficult level are VICIOUS - and my games improved so much I destroy my friends at both. >:)

No Alhambra or Puerto Rico? Shucks.

Awesome! Ticket to Ride is good fun. Everyone that I've introduced to the board game (gamers and non-gamers alike) all really enjoy it and ask to play again. It has an excellent mix of strategy vs. luck, short and long term goal setting/achievement and diplomacy vs backstabbing. should be fun!

The actual Ticket to Ride listing in the USK.
Alhambra has been delayed indefinitely. As has Talisman, too.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Mar 22nd 2008 2:42PM
Talisman kind of sucks. Maybe it was just the one time I played, but it was fairly lame.
Alhambra I'd buy, but I'm really glad I'm getting Ticket to Ride first.
While there is something to be said for getting a group together, there's also something to be said for not having to round up 3 other people.

Now all we need is a game that allows us to play Go and for Shogi to come out. Then we have some of the best games of all time on XBLA.
emagius @ Mar 21st 2008 6:30PM
How about some good games, like Age of Steam or Citadels or Railroad Tycoon or Race for the Galaxy or Basari? Or even Puerto Rico?
We'll probably see overrated trash like San Juan or Shadows Over Camelot before any of those. :(

While I agree that those are all great games, don't you think it's wise to start small with the likes of Carcassonne and TTR? Get 'em hooked with the simpler stuff first! From listening to various podcasts people were having a hard enough time wrapping their heads around what to do in Carcassonne--I'd hate to throw something like AoS or PR up there with no other frame of reference.

I told Richard (emagius) that in the NG. lol
