It seems so long ago now. We can still remember the feeling of gasping for air; like a heavy weight (one made of equal parts whimsy and cardboard) was planted directly on our collective ribcage. The adorable object of our user-generated desires, LittleBigPlanet was being delayed from early '08 to the much further away and unfathomable "September" ...
... and though news that the game is being pushed "toward the Alpha stage" isn't far removed from an update confirming the game is being pushed towards being released someday, we're pleased as punch to read the update on Media Molecule's blog nonetheless. Why? Because everyone knows that the Alpha stage comes just before the Beta stage and, if you'll recall, Sony has said the demo for LittleBigPlanet will take the form of a "public beta." That means public beta playtime sometime between right now and this September (which is 164 days away, in case you weren't counting). Not much of an update, we know ...

It's not particularly good news. Alpha means it's still got a lot of bugs, and things that need to be worked on. I've played Alpha's that you could barely call games.
This is the type of game where there should only be maybe a 4-6 month pre-release time for hype, and then a freaking release. Spore is the same way. Sick of hearing about both of them. Let us play already!

I hope it's got a good campaign mode, because I gave up on user-created content when Counter-Strike eliminated support of custom character skins.

Counter-Strike itself didn't stop supporting it, the people who ran the servers did. You know why? Because of cheating bastards who'd create transparent people, or screw up the offset so people wouldn't actually hit what they were aiming at.
Since LBP is largely a cooperative game, I don't think you'll have those problems.

I think I vaguely remember this title... isn't this the one they have been touting for about ... um... forever?
One thing about generating a ton of hype too erly -- by the time you ship, you run a real risk of no one caring anymore.

Holy crap if everything that we've been seeing is all very much PRE-alpha, then I'm damn excited for the full game! Seriously, if they do a good job squashing them bugs and implementing new features, I'll totally rock out with my c*ck out!
Oh wait, I bought a 360 instead. I guess I was too eager to play actual good games that are already out... like right now.

This isn't quite the game that will make me buy a PS3. I'll see this when I can get one in a few years.
