Japanese Mario Kart Wii video smorgasbord
67
If you weren't turned off from Mario Kart Wii after the announcement that it would be sans-serpentile-steering, the gaggle of (somewhat poor quality) gameplay videos recently posted by GameTrailers might just tickle your fancy. Featuring the above intro for the Japanese version of the game as well as a number of features on some of the series' returning maps, it certainly fired a nostalgic red shell into our heart of hearts. We'll be bringing those blue sparks when the game hits U.S. store shelves on April 27 -- who wants to be first for a five-course meal consisting solely of banana peels and our dust?

Really... as muchs as I love SSBB, I'm more hyped about Mario Kart Wii.
SSBB is the game to keep me enterteining until Mario Kart Wii (1 day after my birthday).

So does that mean you're going to be camping outside Gamestop on your birthday?
If so, I'll bring you cake. Delicious, moist cake. With sprinkles. You like sprinkles right?

Why do you think they are going to release Mario Kart Wii in April 27?
It's a gift from Nintendo to me, for being the most loyal Nintendo fan =p

Apparently, the love between Nintendo and Fernando is stronger than the love between Ross and Rachel.

How old will you be?
On a side note, im using the wii to browse and i can't see the video, but hear it. :-( Why does Wii shaft me so?
Last thing, i got battalion wars 2. good game but needs game-specific friend codes. Does Nintendo really think that half it's users are vulnerable children and the other half paedophiles!? For fucks sake man!
rant off.

I hope the online service improves before this comes out. SSBB really sucks online. Way too much lag every single game. If it continues, I'm passing on this as well. Sigh.

Lag was in the first two days... everything is smooth now... 60 frames in online battle.
Maybe you need to upgrade your Dynex router.

@Fernando
Its one thing to be a total Nintendo Zealot and patsie. Its another thing to insult a guy for having lag in brawl online which just about everyone playing the game has. Maybe your so consumed in your Nintendo obsession you can look past al of that. I am still having lag and problems connecting most of the time.
My problems with the Wii and Nintendo online--
1. Friend Codes!- Ok so friend codes are long and tedious compared to just adding a name. It wouldn't be so bad if it were not for problem #2.
2. Game specific friend codes! Not only do I have to add someone's friend code but if I want to play any game with them online I also have to add their game specific friend code. This is more than likely a measure of protection for children playing the console.
3. No chatting, custom soundtracks, in game XMB/messaging or downloading content! Its possible this will change in the future but as of right now playing the Wii online is the same thing as playing the computer. Even though you are playing against people there is no way to know who.
4. No friend invites! I believe this pretty much speaks for its self.
Nintendo does not believe in on-line play. I believe they even said as much last generation. With the lack of servers for first part support and the other litany of problems it makes playing the Wii online more of a chore than a joy.
With all of that said the thing that makes the Wii playable online is obviously games like SSBB and potentially Mario Kart. Fernando, for you to defend the service and to go as far as to make it out to be someone else's fault that the service is pure trash just shows your bias and inability to look at the situation with an open mind.
You love to bash another consoles online component and rightfully so. However, the Wii service being free is the only positive thing I can see about to this point. Let's all hope that Nintendo can get with the next gen program and make an online service that matches Live.

Sigh. Maybe magically the comment I just entered somehow teleported over to the article on the broken comment system, but I doubt it.
Anyways, was just going to say McPoop is right on here. Lag was just in the 1st two days? Dream on. Has nothing to do with upgrading a router.

Now just imagine how cool this game would look if the Wii were truly a next-gen system. Maybe on thenext console I suppose.
Looks fun though. I liked the original but I dont have a Wii and dont think Id get it just for a couple games. Honestly, most games on the Wii just dont interest me. Most seem real cheesy or geared toward kids.

Oh sigh, then this whole cruel cycle starts over again next 'gen', and everybody comes out of the woodwork with 'Oh Nintendo is so stoopid these graphics are sooo outdated, totally last gen doodz, imo imo, Nintendo makes graphics and gamez for babeez anybody who buys it iz a sucker baby'
Unless you're a spaz like many of us who will buuy more than one console I can understand holding off on a Wii. However I think there's plenty of good titles out by now that you could be satisfied with. Controllers are pretty compelling, my mind was blown that the console could offer the kind of steering ExciteTruck has. That's an im "h" o.

Why doesnt Joystiq let you choose your own password for this site? The default one they give you is not easy to remember and it just makes more sense to have a password of your own.

i don't nintendo is calling you stupid i think its just their way of not making the games mario kart 1, 2, 3, etc.
they've done this for a while, Mario Kart 64, Pilotwings 64,
its just nintendo's way of differentiating their franchise games from one another

If there is one power up in all of gaming that I hate the most, it is the blue turtle shell. Damn it I hate it because I am rarely the benefactor of its computer assistance evilness. Except for this one time when I was in first place and I threw it just to see what would happen.
