Japanese Mario Kart Wii video smorgasbord
67
If you weren't turned off from Mario Kart Wii after the announcement that it would be sans-serpentile-steering, the gaggle of (somewhat poor quality) gameplay videos recently posted by GameTrailers might just tickle your fancy. Featuring the above intro for the Japanese version of the game as well as a number of features on some of the series' returning maps, it certainly fired a nostalgic red shell into our heart of hearts. We'll be bringing those blue sparks when the game hits U.S. store shelves on April 27 -- who wants to be first for a five-course meal consisting solely of banana peels and our dust?

Or you can practice and learn how to dodge blue shells...
Mario Kart Double Dash was and still is my most played game... we play every week little tourneys, me, cousins, brother and some friends, and all we are prtty good... everyone have their technique... someone stay behind to grab powerful weapons and others try to be always in second place and take the first place when someone throw a blue shell.
I don't. I like to go in first place, always with a banana or green turtle saved, if someone throw a red shell, I use the bananas as a shield, and if someone throw me a blue shell, I just dodge it.

Three cheers for bloom lighting.
I'm gonna get this game. I'm gonna get it like it's nineteen ninety-twelve.

Needs Moar Sonic.

You know, two months ago I would have objected to that, but seeing as I've beaten some of the best of the best with Sonic in Brawl, it doesn't sound like such a bad idea now.
He wouldn't even need a kart.

Well, they could always give him a hoverboard... they do have multiple transports after all. :p (so long as shadow's transport doesn't come with bazookas)

I kind of have to agree. I will end up getting so I can play with the kids and the old lady but other than that I do not see any major differences on the surface. I will reserve judgement until I actually play it but on the surface it really does not look any different. I guess its good thing they removed the snaking feature this time around. That really made the others unplayable at times against certain friends.

Gamecube is the only system that doesn't have all the "Game name: console" titles. The only one of those that I liked was "Advance" because it's a cool word. But other stuff like Super Mario 64 DS are like wtf!

That's what happens when you don't work with new IP very often.

Sonic is BADASS.

You mean, he's ass bad. He's what happens when companies absolutely fail at trying to take a more edgy approach in reaction to their competition.
Although I can't say I don't prefer the new Sonic's design over the old, fat sonic. I just don't like his attitude and overall lameness in almost every game he's been in over the course of the last few years.

That picture looks fugly, but I think it's more due to the fact that it's taken at a bad time. It's like when you get a photo of yourself just as you sneeze, you look deformed. It actually looks like they're trying to get back to his cartoony style, judging by the way the mouth is drawn.
