Which makes me think: someone in PR probably was. But then probably only because he likes his job.

A 360 signed by Bill Gates = meh.

A 360 signed by Ken Kutaragi = WIN.

Just tell him you'll buy a Ps3 if he sign your XB360.

Now that a XB360 signed by Shigeru Miyamoto well that's just Epic Win.

I'm sorry but all those people supporting microsoft here, hush up. Bungie did this right, they found out, they gathered a huge amount of stuff and signed a halo helmet. The stuff that was removed was Halo art and halo signatures. That was their fan.

Microsoft took too long to respond, and sent him what? Another console, one that if he uses he'll be tied into the DRM issue everyone else has had. not even a halo 360. not even a free gift. Does this guy even care about Bill Gates, E or Trixie (I hope not, they arn't idols).

Microsoft did this because of public scrutiny, or because Bungie did it, if they were only after free publicity they'd have done this when the story BROKE, not 3 weeks after the fact. They aren't altruistic, they are still the same Microsoft we knew last year.

So Bungie = good. Microsoft = same old. (I love my 360, but doesn't mean I like the company who made it). And btw Microsoft, not bungie (publisher not developer) set the price for the map packs. The Developer probably were the ones who pushed to make the packs free after some point though.

Or... y'know, it might have just taken three weeks, logistically, to send that XBox to all 20+ people who signed it.

Actually most if not all places will be happy to replace something for you if it the fault of the product or a result of bad customer service. This is just good business practice, something microsoft pretends that it knows about.

All I can say is that if dude actually plays games on this box, I would begin to question his sanity.

Wah my 360 broke and MS cleaned it up Wah.

Ok I can see that and its a legitimate reason to get upset. But bungie went above and beyond and hooked this kid up.

Now MS gets a 360 sends it to the kid at no cost and has it signed. Hmm I have a gaming site maybe I should whine about my 360's GPU going out and try and get it replaced for free and have MS hook me up to.

Even though the art work looks really cool and the generosity by Microsoft is commendable the question still remains: What is Microsoft doing to prevent RROD's from happening? Instead of compensating some poor kid for losing his game saves, what about the rest of the gaming population that has lost way more than this poor fellow? Compensate the people that had to purchase a whole new console before the 1 year warranties Microsoft is paying for. Why not give them a little something?

actually microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years, and all people that payed for their xboxes to be fixed got their money back. or could if they chose.

my friend's xbox has read ringed twice(the second one the day after he got it back from the first fix), and has had his disc drive broken twice. they gave him a free year of xbox live, a free memory unit, and Viva Pinata(overnighted).

as for working to prevent further red rings...they have better cooling systems, and they now run on smaller 65 nm CPUs. and im sure they are working on other things considering how much damage the RROD is doing to them.

and i would like to know who has lost more than a one of a kind art design on their xbox. this kid lost a lot. things have been mended.

people hate MS so much that if they do the wrong thing they get crap, and if they do the right thing they get crap. maybe PEOPLE should do the right thing and not be so full of hate.

and the bill gates signature DOES look like the cursive they teach you in elementary school. it is actually neat, not total crap that you cant read. he probably did that to make it CLEAR that its there.

Just had to get a dig in at the last second, didn't you Joystiq? Ever considered writing at least one story without a cynical, juvenile, ill-tempered, semi-humerous remark in it?
