After initially seeing EA's explanation about its pay-to-play DLC weaponry in Battlefield: Bad Company on MTV's Multiplayer, it was time for a nice walk around the block to inhale some crisp spring air and exhale some vexation before sitting down to write about it. The publisher states that five of the DLC weapons in its upcoming FPS will be "free," and the other five will be bundled with the game's "Gold Edition." For gamers who don't want to buy the "Gold Edition," the weapons will be available to purchase through PSN and XBM -- no prices are currently attached to the weapons.
EA states that the pay-to-play weaponry in B:BC will not unbalance the game and that "more weapons offer players more choices but do not create an advantage/disadvantage for players who do not opt to buy new item." Wait, what? Paying extra money for weapons other players don't have doesn't change the game experience? We had hoped EA had given up on its dubious microtransactions, but we're sure consumers will vote using their wallets if they agree with EA's tactic.

Haha, looks like everyone is getting the F2P with Cash Shop treatment that some of us PC MMORPGers are sadly familiar with XD
Unfortunately, despite the suckiness of the business model, it WILL be successful XD prepare to shell out

Seems like these features that are being planned before the launch of the game should be included in the game.
They could easily add them in. If they aren't in there already and are just being unlocked.
And to say that it won't add an unfair advantage.... stoopid.

Nato_Duke said that we are all going to buy this game anyway, even if we hate what they are doing. That is true for Hardcore FPS players. I, on the other hand, only buy Multilayer FPS about once every 6 months, and I was considering this game for my next fps purchase. I have heard good things about the franchise, but with this news EA has guaranteed that I wont buy it this one.
Not everyone is a hardcore gamer who buys every game on the market. Casual gamers are the people who they are going to lose with this kind of tactic. The hard core games will almost all buy the game and the extras. the question is if it is worth losing casual gamers to sell extras to the hardcore crowd.
I am willing to bet EA knows what they are doing with this. I don't like it, but sad experience has show that when they pull this kind of crap everyone pisses and moans about it and then goes and buys the game anyway.
please prove me wrong, people. I don't want to be right about this one.
