Wow, it's not even, like, based on the N64 logo. It IS the N64 logo.

I saw that logo a while back and thought it was oddly hilarious. Of course, pretty sure this blog commits copyright infringement all the time, as well—for example the recent post with about a cheering game for Wii, with a copyrighted image of the SNL actors. Unless they had permission? Perhaps so.

not sure about blogs, but reporting about something should be fair use for those pictures. but this is just plain stealing the N64 logo

I thought that image was fake until I actually looked at their website.
That's pretty sad, at least make your own instead of pasting it in paint.

haha! even their fav icon is the n64 logo. and i like their slogan. "welcome to nnn. where change begins..."

umm, how can change begin there when you didn't change one thing about the logo you STOLE??

It's not even an appropriate co-opting, since the N64 logo has four Ns, not three.

Anyone else think is funny to scold these not-for-profit political bloggers in Nebraska when this for-profit website posts unauthorized screen shots all the time, not to mention using the Wii's remote in its banner.

Somehow I suspect Nintendo has more important things to do than come after this site or the one in Nebraska.

Blah, blah, blah, this is a gaming website. I would hope to find gaming-related images on it.

That is a political site, using the N64 logo as its own. There is an inherent difference there.

(Note that I'm not bashing the site itself, its content, or its writers, I'm just making the point that there is a difference between a gaming website using "unauthorized" gaming images and a political site using those same kinds of images.)

This is a gaming blog, posting gaming-related material. The reason we're all scoffing disapprovingly at that site is because they're using an existing logo and presenting it as their own.
No-one coming to Nintendo Wii fanboy is going to think that they're the ones that invented the d-pad in their icon, or that they produced the screenshots they're showcasing. But that's how NNN is presenting the N64 symbol - as their own logo, without acknowledging the source.

If you check it out now, it appears as though they altered it (albeit very, very little). The color of the green is now a little brighter than it was earlier, and it is more stretched out than the N64 logo. Still blatantly stolen, however...

Hey, yeah... when I first saw this post, I went and looked at the site, and it was exactly as they put it in the blog here. Now they've messed with the saturation, and warped it a bit. Weird.

I wonder if they think that makes it "different enough" or something.

now it looks even worse, even more cheaply made, and it's still an n64 logo inside of a crudely drawn nebraska...

Wow, that's really, hilariously blatant. I thought the image in your post was something you made to illustrate the point, but... well you probably would have put more effort into it than they did, I suppose.

I always loved that logo. Seeing it brings back memories of being so excited about the n64.

At the end of the year in 8th grade shop class when our teacher told us we could draw whatever we wanted, I measured the N logo and reproduced it on a large piece of paper. I didn't get it until my birthday that year though, and by that time, the only one excited was me.

That's not copyright infringement you idiot, it's trademark infringement. Huge difference.

...well someone owns the copyright for the design of the logo...

my guess is Nintendo.

so it's both? :)

Such a huge difference that you felt the need to call someone an idiot? Did you have a bad day/week/year?

There's a small dental supply company here in the UK who I used to deal with in my old job that also have a very similar logo. They're called E.M. Natt. http://www.natt.co.uk/

I actually mentioned their logo to them once and asked if they were aware of the similarities between it and the N64's. They said they were but they'd been using it for years and years before Nintendo.

Perhaps they could sue EVERYBODY.
