Oakey just hasn't been the same since that "Bunkka" disaster.....
I'll pass.
Kodros @ Mar 24th 2008 3:54PM
Meh, I liked most of the songs. Love Zoo York.
Blazur @ Mar 24th 2008 5:01PM
I won't argue your opinion, but personally I really enjoyed Bunkka and much of his work that followed...especially A Lively Mind. Granted his style has shifted in that album to become less continuous trance and more catchy pop tues, likely because with the success of Ready Steady and Starry Eyed Surprise those songs are easier to plug into games and movies.
The only disaster Oakenfold ever produced in my opinion was A Voyage Into Trance.

He is know as one of the worst trance dj's in the world....
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Mar 24th 2008 3:46PM
If he's among the worst trance DJs in the world, why is he also the most popular?
I mean, really, one of the worst trance DJs in the world? Statistically speaking, that's simply impossible. Especially if you actually follow local music scenes. Did you wake up this morning and say in a mirror, "Today, I will say one of the dumbest things in the world?"
Chris @ Mar 24th 2008 4:16PM
Pre-Bunkka: He was the best in the world, without question.

One of the best Trance releases existing today.
yojimb0 @ Mar 24th 2008 4:50PM
No, he is actually pretty mediocre these days, I've seen him twice and was underwhelmed both times. He's still at 12 on the djmag list, but I think he's still riding on a lot of his previous fame.
Plus, he's doing music for a Bourne game... how hot could he be right now?
Blazur @ Mar 24th 2008 4:58PM
Oakenfold is a god and you will be destroyed for your blasphemy.
Eh @ Mar 24th 2008 5:07PM
is it opposite day?
Neebs @ Mar 24th 2008 7:42PM
Oakenfold is good...and then there's Tiesto.
Burgoo @ Mar 24th 2008 8:32PM
If your into the trance scene at all, Oakenfold is known as a horrible dj, he is notorious for trainwrecking sets. He is the poster boy for why successful producers dont always make good dj's.
Zegim @ Mar 26th 2008 5:12PM
Indeed, Oakenfold sets are nothing that your local DJ's couldn't do.
Co @ Mar 24th 2008 4:03PM
"and featuring ... Cee-Lo Green"
Deal breaker.
Best thing Goodie Mob ever did was kick his sorry ass out of the group. I swear he actually consciencely competes against Andre 3000 and fails in every way.
Nando @ Mar 24th 2008 5:46PM
pfff!!! everyone knows Oakie doesn't play trance anymore... that's a blasfemy to real trance DJs.
His golden years were the early 90's, now he's just a shadow of what he was, he still has some decent releases tho...
Chris @ Mar 24th 2008 6:12PM
Exactly!
Nowadays, it's all about Tiesto and Armin van Buuren.
And even THOSE guys haven't been appealing to me much, these days.
Think I'll stick with my Prog House. :P
Nando @ Mar 24th 2008 6:38PM
yeah, but even tiesto, AVB, heck! even PVD and many more past legends of trance are playing progressive trance, and I really don't like that music.
i'm more of a tech/goa/uplifting/euforic/etc... trance person...
Burgoo @ Mar 24th 2008 8:33PM
I still love his 94 essential mix. But yeah sander van doorn is the future of trance.
psyborg @ Mar 24th 2008 8:24PM
Trance blows ;)
Jose @ Mar 24th 2008 8:49PM
The best thing Cee-lo ever did was leave his crappy "band" and get adopted by Danger Mouse. Gnarls is the shit: now two shits with the release of the Odd Couple.

the GU agents 10 years ago were pure gold. Now they are just washed up hacks.
Lee @ Mar 25th 2008 8:19AM
its the other Paul that is better at trance, PvD (Paul Van Dyk)
