Hmmm, I wonder how the casual and gamer markets will bite on this one? Wii Sports was packaged with the console in most regions and therefore essentially free. Wii Play was packaged with a remote and therefore essentially $10. How will the game's market feel about shelling out about $100 after tax for this?

I think it's a good idea but needs to be more around $69.99 to be a big hit. Million-seller is probable, but I don't know beyond that.

Well... it's already at 1.5 million in JP, and since last week, it's been outseling even Smash Bros.

It will have better sales here in USA.

don't ever count against the stupidity of the human race or even america. This POS will sell like crazy in america cause most of us are too lazy to get our asses out and do actual excercise. We'd much rather do something like this and delude ourselves into thinking we're actually doing something.

My goodness I don't know what's more retarded: Your screen name or your comment. Is the 87 supposed to be your birth year? If it is, why do you have Air Jordan in your SN like you know anything about him outside of highlight reels, youngin?

Get ur ass back on the porch.

Actually, someone has been doing an experiment and I believe that at last count, he claims to have lost about 9 pounds over the course of a month using only Wii Fit for a half our a day.

I can't think of what his site is...I know GoNintendo makes a weekly post about it, though.

I agree. I don't think the majority of casual Wii owners would pay that much for WiiFit.

Unfortunately, though, my mom has already heavily hinted that she wants it for her birthday. So, I will sadly be purchasing this overpriced bathroom scale.

See that's the point you guys are missing. This isn't out there to replace a "workout". It's for the person that wants to do something a little more active in front of their TV than just holding a remote.

Not wanting to be a dick but $90US at the current exchange rate is £45 in the UK. Which coincidentally is the price of most new PS3 games.

I know that $90 is not taking into account state sales tax but relative to us you are getting a bargain.

So spare a thought for us when you are (not) buying this 'expensive' 'game' :-)

@Co

You can be delusional if you want man but this thing is no more than a glorified scale. It may sell 3 million worldwide but that does not make it anything other than what it is. Maybe if used in conjuction with a regular fitness and proper diet it could be useful. However, coulnd't the same results if not better be achieved for free doing push ups and sit ups? I guess it wouldn't be as much fun would it? Only Nintendo can repackage a scale to make working out more interactive. Jeez some people will buy anything.

Vidguy: I don't really care about your fancy schmancy 'percentages' and 'mathematics', bottom line is that you guys are paying less for this than the RRP of most PS3 games over here (not that anyone would buy a PS3 game at RRP. I don't think anyone buys PS3 games at all come to think of it, but that is a different story).

I don't really care anyway, as any gamer that does buy this deserves to die young no matter how much it costs :-)

Meh, not interested - but then again, this isn't really marketed to me. What does grate is that the US gets a full retail game plus a big hunk of accessory for less than I have to pay for a game in the UK (by RRP). Gah! Damned VAT and such!

the ten dollar pre-order price tag isn't the norm quite yet. It's usually only reserved for Limited Editions and product that comes with hardware (guitars, flight sticks, controller, etc.) The majority of games are still five dollar pre-orders.

With that price it pretty much rules out any simultaneous multiplayer because who is going to shell out for two of these? I was really expecting something in the $40-60 range.

Maybe they'll get Jack Lalane to sell it on TV for "3 easy payments of $29.99?"

It has been a running deal for a while at Gamestop to charge 10 bucks for more expensive game preorders. Especially Limited Editions and things like that. Go try and reserve Fable and Fable LE right now. LE will cost 10 and regular will cost 5. They did this for all three Halo 3 editions that came out and I'm pretty sure it is going on for the Gears SE right now. But I don't think they have ever had a regular reserve for 10 bucks (Save maybe random Wii titles, i know Metroid P3 was 10).

There are a lot of things that Sony has copied and passed off as innovation, as has Microsoft. Get off the Anti-Nintendo bandwagon until you get a real complaint. As much as it may pain you to admit to, Nintendo has innovated in the games industry. And I'll be one of the first in line to admit Nintendo has too many sequels but at the same time some of the sequels has brought new types of gameplay.

And the Nintendonald moniker. It's lame. Especially since I'm assuming you are trying to insult Nintendo and not compliment it. So if you're implying Nintendo is similar to McDonald's. That would be a compliment since Micky D's is one of the most successful companies in the world. Not that I like eating there. I'm more of a Burger King guy but that doesn't mean I have to stick my head up my ass and not admit it when someone is doing well.

The double for the pre-order I think has more to do with the price of the item and it's suspected limited quantities than any test they've done for increasing the reserve amount.

Many of the higher priced (read: more than $70) items have had $10 reserve amounts to them, including my GTA IV LE pre-order and I think $10 was the amount for the Guitar Hero bundles in the past (I suck at rythem games, so I haven't been riding the GH train). My Halo and Bioshock LEs also came with an increased reserve amount.

OMG you guys are jokers. I'd gladly pay £45 (the equivalent in the UK) for Wii fit rather than the £70 ($140) dollars we have to fork out. I know you guys are in a recession and everything but you guys have always had the good life with these prices. So pull your hands out your pockets and stop being stingy!
I'm tempted to get a freeloader just so i can ship games from the states, and even wii fit!

You pay about L35 for a new game, so Wii Fit at L70 is 200% of the standard price. We pay USD$50 for a standard Wii game, so Wii Fit is 180% of that price. We are getting about USD$10 worth of a price break, not $50. $90 is also 150% of the next-gen $60 pricetag, while the jump is about 157% of your next-gen tag of L45.

Look at the relative prices, the exchange rate screws it all up. This game is still pretty expensive in the US market.
