We're sure all the fanboys out there were awake late last night, waiting for the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack to become free at 2AM Pacific last night. Those who did were greeted with sour news: the maps remained at their original price of 800 Microsoft Points. As of this post, the content still isn't free. We're not sure what the problem is, but Bungie.net members are (understandably) miffed. At any rate, the maps should be free sometime soon. Keep an eye out on this post; we'll update once the maps are available free of charge.

Great pic.
I bought mine when they came out, but they don't make the DLC playlist more robust for the upcoming map pack... I may wait till they're free.
I just never felt like I got to play much of the Heroic pack... Now I finally will.

This is so annoying that I can't stand it. I have just about given up on waiting for this free DLC so I will probably concentrate on the Battlefield BETA

I second that itsburnsie. I think I played the DLC hopper twice, and it was VIP half the time, which I never play. I'm going to pass on the new maps as well, unless they immediately set up a hopper with the new maps, not just one with the 3 maps.

I love downloading free stuff even though I dont have the game. For example, the Tiger Woods '08 Turnberry Resort... the free Ghost Recon Map Packs, and now the Halo 3 Map Packs. If I ever decided to go retro and play these dated games I can enjoy free content too. With the COD4 maps and GTA4 dropping it appears unlikely that I'll ever use them but oh well.

I was up at 2 AM Pacific time last night but it wasn't free so I kept checking every half hour until I got tired and fell asleep. Downloading now.

I agree with a lot of the people here. I probably won't even buy the new map pack. Bungie gives us like two modes to play the maps with, and they aren't even ranked. I know they do this for the people who don't have the maps, but in reality they're only hurting the people who actually payed for them. 10 bucks down the drain. It's crap, therefore I won't be buying the new maps.
