"too-good-to-be-a-demo"

Just have to throw that in...don't you. It's OK, if you think it's such a rip-off then do NOT buy it.

By the way purely off topic...but if you were ever a Hot Shots fan....buy Out of Bounds, the new swing is a awesome once you get the hang of it. Very addicting and should provide countless hours of fun online or off.

So I take it you will be paying 2/3 the price of the full game for 1/10 of the content?

Yes I will buy this game. And be able to sample the glory of GT5 with it's 16 player online races, GTTV, Car tuning, 70+ cars, 6,7 tracks plus mirrors, and some DL content in the future. Plus, I and other who buy the Prologue will be able to help His Holyness "Yamauchi" and Polyphony Digital fine tune the FULL release of GT5 in late 2008 or early 2009.
Buy the way...GT5P is SOLD OUT even b4 it's release in Europe.
http://frag-cast.blogspot.com/2008/03/gt5-prologue-sold-out.html
So it appears that millions of GT fans think that this is worth buying.

Check your own source you idiot, it's only sold out at play.com according to that article on some random blog. I love the GT series and will be getting GT5, but I can't justify paying 2/3 the price for 1/10 the content.

The FACT that it's sold out at arguably the largest retailer across the pond is significant. There are also over 1 million pre-orders for this game. Hate on this game all you want...it's still going to sell millions of copies.
Of course I want the REAL GT5 now, but I will gladly take this Prologue to what will be the greatest racing sim ever until GT6 comes out.

A demo consists of a level or 2 at most, a SMALL little taste of what's to come.

Prologue is hardly small, it will give a GT5 fans many, many hours of replay value until the Big Baby hits store shelves.

Curtis,
Come correct son. How right you are, it is indeed OK to agree that we disagree. As for what I will do with it?
Throw it like a frisbee and hope that it forms a warpfield and jumps into subspace and reappears about 6 feet in front of Fernandos and Bonks him on his noggin leaving a permanent mark with the Sony logo.

gran turismo 5 prologue is EXACTLY that, a prologue to GT5.
It's not a demo. its not a full game. its a prologue. why is this so hard to grasp?

the prologue that you could download from the japanese psn store a couple months ago; now THAT is a demo.

OK, so it's not a demo, it's a prologue...then you say...

"the prologue that you could download from the japanese psn store a couple months ago; now THAT is a demo."

I thought you just said that prologues weren't demos?

*sigh the great joystiq comments that you cant edit.

the "Prologue" (as in the name of the game, not that its a prologue) that you could download for free was a demo. and it was called apropriatly a demo of "prologue" (again As the name of the game)

I don't normally read posts on this website but I just wanted to make a small comment to the guy who keeps saying 2/3 price 1/10 content.
GT5P is basically an online racing game for the most part. GT5 Full is going to be an online and single player game. So if your just into the online game you pay 40 bucks for it and you have all the content that you want with some more DL content later for newer tracks. Similiar to Warhawk which was 40 dollars and online only. Now if Warhawk Full comes out later in the year and has an online and a single player and costs 60 would you then call warhawk online only a demo because it dosent have single player? You pick the content you want and pay for what you want and thats it. Which is why gt5p is already a top seller in most countries.

Haha, OK, I will quit my "whying". What is Gran Taurismo? I don't love "Gran Taurismo" but I do like the GT series and will be getting GT5 when it comes out. I would consider something that has 1/10 the content of the full game a demo. I think $10 is a fair price for a tenth of the content.

Also, please stop posting until you pass 1st grade.

"So you're saying a full game should have around 60 tracks and over 700 cars?"

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Here is a quote about GT4.

"The game features over 700 cars from 80 manufacturers, from as early as the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage and as far into the future as concepts for 2022. The game also features 51 tracks, many of which are new or modified versions of old Gran Turismo favorites, with some notable real-world additions."

Are you saying that you think GT5 should have less cars and tracks than GT4? Why would a sequel have less?

@ Curtis

So I guess GT3 was a demo of GT4 then? Seeing that it only had 150 cars available. The reason for this?

"On the downside, far fewer vehicles are available in GT3 (just over 150) than GT2 (around 650). This is attributed largely to the work needed for the more detailed graphics and statistics for the cars, and the game's release being early in the PlayStation 2's lifespan."

Hell, Forza 2 only has 14 tracks.

Well I am not sure if the DL version will be the full 39.99... Probably going to be like Warhawk where its cheaper to DL it and buying retail is full price but you get something extra (warhawk had a bluetooth headset that retails for I believe $59.99 stand alone).

I have no problem paying for GT Prologue because it is the greatest racing game of all time. I mean this "demo" will feature near 100 cars ( I think) and the tracks can be raced in reverse as well. Also, this is the first GT to feature fully online racing which is going to be SICK.... It does not have licenses from what I have heard but you will be able to transfer all of your cars over to the full version... I think calling it a glorified demo is being disengenious... It is not a full retail version but most demo's have a handful of cars tops and 1 or 2 tracks... This is basicly a full featured game just with less content than the full version... They have done this before with the GT series... I remember they had a concept cars version prior to the last GT that featured cars not in the full retail version...

I think most of the people calling it a demo do not own a PS3 and are just using this as an oppurtunity to minimize one of the PS3's top franchises... It may be a little overpriced but as I said the DL version will prbably be cheaper and you will get something extra in the box version.... Also, if you can't get the majority of the vehicles in the full version than it is certainly worth it just to unlock cars for your garage... Obviously this version is only for die hard fans of the game like myself.... I can't wait to get GT Prologue...

How many games haveyou spent a full retail amount on that you wish you did not? I can think of a few recently I did (The Club being one another being Blue Dragon so far). At least with Gt:P you know what you are getting and even though it is not the full retail version it will suffice any gearhead or fan of the series over until the full version drops...I am so excited to race online multiplayer in this game!!!

You never know Polyphony Digital could also release some free DLC for it as well like some new tracks and cars...

I can understand if you did not want to spend the $$ on this before the full version drops but they made this for the true fanboys of the series who have been without GT for to long... I will appreciate this game for what it is and the lack of content will not keep me from having at least 100 hours of play out of it....

We all know its not a demo and its not even a glorified demo... It is what it is.. thats a prologue to the full release... It says so in the frickin title for gods sake...

How much do you want to bet this "demo" will have more cars to select from than say a full version of Mario kart Wii... Probably just as many tracks to...
