Guitar Hero: Aerosmith adds Mott the Hoople, The Kinks, Joan Jett

Sweetening the pot is the inclusion of artists who've intersected with Aerosmith, which GI says includes Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes", The Kinks with "All Day and All Night," Joan Jett's "Hate Myself for Loving You" and Cheap Trick with "Dream Police." It's all very concerning but it's the inclusion of that awesome Mott the Hoople track that really has us worried. Are we going to have to [gulp] buy this game?

Oh, cool! A hidden Joystiq story, only available to us cool RSS kids.
An easter egg, if you will. Very meta.
Ghen @ Mar 25th 2008 5:09PM
huh? I read the website the old fashioned way, care to elaborate?
Roto13 @ Mar 25th 2008 1:05PM
The Kinks? I ****ing love the Kinks. That's a great song, too.
andyg8180 @ Mar 25th 2008 1:11PM
well if they arnt gonna put up cheap DLC, might as well buy a full game with new charachters graphics and songs for a hell of a lot cheaper!! w0ot...
itsburnsie @ Mar 25th 2008 1:10PM
Obligatory "perfect for Rock Band" comment.
But c'mon... "All the Young Dudes" on GUITAR HERO? I would freaking ROCK those vocals.
Oh, and yay hidden RSS story.
muddyhelmit @ Mar 25th 2008 3:25PM
I totally agree! Speed Jive! I'm going to sing along whether I have a mic or not
Captain Blaggers @ Mar 25th 2008 1:17PM
All The Young Dudes is in t? Great, now I have to buy it.
Anticrawl @ Mar 25th 2008 1:25PM
RSS feeds are yummy. But uhh yeah if this is like 20 bucks I may pick it up just to have more songs to play. The lady loves Aerosmith and The Kinks so she'd be excited.
THRILLHO @ Mar 25th 2008 1:32PM
they are taking preorders for the game at $50, so i dont see that happening anytime soon
Anticrawl @ Mar 25th 2008 1:56PM
Ah well whatever then. I'm content to tapping my foot to the beat while I listen to music hahaha.
GRT @ Mar 25th 2008 1:27PM
Mott the Hoople and the Kinks, huh?
Crap, I have to buy this now.
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 25th 2008 2:36PM
I really hope this game flop... this could be the beggining of a trend...
I think is a better deal the full album download from Rock Band.
jsn @ Mar 25th 2008 2:39PM
Fernando...my memesis... this may be the 2nd time in joystiq history that I completely agree with you...
My world is upside down right now... I need a few minutes to sort things out..
jsn @ Mar 25th 2008 2:38PM
Mott the Nipple? SELL OUT
Double J @ Mar 25th 2008 2:38PM
Why the hell are we just NOW getting Mott The Hoople in these games?
tacoman @ Mar 25th 2008 5:37PM
Because "All the Young Dudes" was in Juno. Just another thing Michael Cera has given you without asking anything in return.
Derick @ Mar 25th 2008 11:32PM
I was gonna mention the Juno reference too.
The Kinks are also on that soundtrack, though the song, A Well Respected Man, would have been out of place in GH I think....
ApolloIV @ Mar 25th 2008 2:39PM
Great songs. Shit game. RIP Guitar Hero. I will miss you.
Roto13 @ Mar 25th 2008 2:55PM
Considering songs are the most important part of Guitar Hero, I don't see how one can have awesome songs and still be a shitty game.
Neebs @ Mar 25th 2008 3:32PM
It simply pales in comparison to THE Rock Band.
bobartig @ Mar 25th 2008 7:19PM
I hear you, Roto. I mean in a sense, all the game really is is the combination of the songs you could get/chose to get and compiled.
But its true, almost no matter what songs they are, when you play them, you just can't help thinking about how much better the entire experience would be in Rock Band instead.
Markez @ Mar 25th 2008 2:43PM
Did they know that Aerosmith is a horrible, incredibly crappy and lousy band? I mean, did they? My god, I feel like vomiting in my drawer at my desk this idea appalls me so much.
Horrible, stupid, & lame. I'll grant that this concept is good, but AEROSMITH?! Oh god, I wish Steven Tyler would crawl into the dumpster and never leave and do the world a favor. Well, I guess I still wouldn't be able to avoid the crap music. Ohh gad, just awful.
How is this a hidden RSS story when it's on the main page?
Markez @ Mar 25th 2008 2:50PM
Geeze, I think even if this game were for a band I were really into for years and years, like Pearl Jam or something, that I still don't this would be a good idea. Plus then tons other people who feel about PJ the way I do about Aerosmith would be all surly.
Chase @ Mar 25th 2008 2:54PM
Agreed. Neat concept, okay band/not-a-band-I-prefer. But I will say, at least they're using the concept with Aerosmith and not some shitty post-2000s band like Fall Out Boy, The Used, or some other terrible Emo turd.
Chase @ Mar 25th 2008 2:55PM
Oh, sir, I love you. Pearl Jam defines my music preference.

I'm thrilled your package was delivered last week.
J. Kyle @ Mar 25th 2008 4:48PM
It reeks of "some Activision suit is a big Aerosmith fan" to me. That's the only explanation I can think of. I highly doubt market research would have shown that all the kids are clamoring to rock out to some Aerosmith.
Guitar Hero: Pearl Jam would be epic, although I gotta fall back on the "it would be cooler in Rock Band" argument there, too.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Mar 25th 2008 2:44PM
Im in denial over gh s death. Oh well i take solace in rock band and todays badical offering of Boston. More than a feeling reminds me of you gh 1...sob.
baby sea tuna @ Mar 25th 2008 2:50PM
Yes! You just reminded me that those Boston tracks drop today. I was hoping to get into some Condemned 2, Army of Two, Dark Sector or Brawl tonight...but it looks like Rock Band is going to have to take precedence after all!
DaMan09 @ Mar 25th 2008 2:50PM
Funny, I recall a certain Joystiq podcast (http://simulations.joystiq.com/2007/09/07/joystiq-podcast-016-super-sweet-16-edition/) where one Justin McElroy was railing on how retarded an Aerosmith Guitar Hero game would be. Well, I guess your violent opinions tend to change in 7 months.
I wonder when you will begin to embrace that game in which a bird is in a backpack in which a bear is carrying. Im guessing you will name it game of the year in about 7 months.
Justin McElroy @ Mar 25th 2008 3:27PM
Nope, Aerosmith (especially the Aerosmith of today) still really, really sucks. I just like the idea for the game and I really like Mott the Hoople.
Thank you Justin of seven months ago! Thank you for setting me straight!
dvdguy @ Mar 25th 2008 3:04PM
LOL @ those lamenting that this game will be the death of the Guitar Hero franchise.
jsn @ Mar 25th 2008 3:06PM
No, guitar hero 3 was the death of the franchise. This game and the even less guitar-y versions that will follow are simply shovels of dirt on the coffin in which it is buried.
I don't lament it, I celebrate it!
ChuckD @ Mar 25th 2008 3:08PM
That's pure crazy talk. Crazy talk I say!
NickB @ Mar 25th 2008 3:13PM
YES. MoH:AtYD just sold me a copy too.
TooManyDinners @ Mar 25th 2008 4:14PM
fuck this boston 6 pack tonight baby
Shagittarius @ Mar 25th 2008 3:39PM
tomorrow.
Shagittarius @ Mar 25th 2008 3:13PM
The fake plastic guitar has been retired by me forever since the fake plastic drums came out.
I have no interest in Guitar Hero anymore.
P.S. Early Aerosmith > Boston any day of the week.
Youthinized @ Mar 25th 2008 5:32PM
Whats the chances of having most of the Aerosmith songs on this crap game being from the 70's and not the late 80's to today?
I 2nd on the game flopping. Everybody knows any of this would be better on Rock Band.
Nuff Said.
DrNicodemus @ Mar 25th 2008 3:57PM
Add drum support and we'll talk.
License to ill @ Mar 25th 2008 4:02PM
I'm pretty much burnt out on Guitar hero, GH3 was probably my last purchase in the series...
TooManyDinners @ Mar 25th 2008 4:15PM
lol, you have a ps3
Noel @ Mar 25th 2008 4:25PM
SAT Question time:
A game about Aerosmith which also happens to feature the Kinks & Cheap Trick is like:
A. A movie starring Lindsay Lohan which happens to also have Robert DeNiro and Marlon Brando in it.
B. A book written by Danielle Steele which also happens to feature segments written by Shakespeare and Flaubert.
C. A country lead by George Bush but was founded by the likes Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin
D. A pile of crap next to some ruby encrusted-diamonds and a beautiful Italian palace.
Delgado @ Mar 25th 2008 8:36PM
It's a trick question.
A. Marlon Brando is an asshole.
B. Shakespeare's works were more than likely not actually written by Shakespeare.
C. Ben Franklin was a drunken adulterer who, similar to Shakespeare, stole most of "his" ideas and bullied other ideas into submission.
D. The diamonds are more than likely conflict, and you're better off spending your money to support different things. That, and some people like crap.
Delgado @ Mar 25th 2008 8:37PM
This is why I got a 1500something on the SAT, I made that thing by bitch.
Eric @ Mar 25th 2008 4:38PM
Rock band will get the real version of "All the young dudes" Bowie anyone!
Garrett @ Mar 25th 2008 4:54PM
Bowie wrote it, but Mott recorded the definitive version.
Youthinized @ Mar 25th 2008 5:42PM
And it would be quite interesting if HMX begins to cock block Activision on all these songs.
They might have Aerosmith exclusive, but I highly doubt any of the other bands featured in this game. And HMX has over 200 songs 'in the pipeline'.
So who knows before the release of this abomination, HMX does some 'special' DLC to piss off Activision. That would be sweet.
ridv34 @ Mar 25th 2008 6:23PM
I wonder what they would call it, oh I got it! The piss on your ex pack....that would sell.
