Fallout fans can look forward to over 200 different endings with the upcoming Fallout 3, according to Executive Producer Todd Howard. Speaking on the OXM podcast (interview starts at 37-minute mark) Howard said, "Being that we are Bethesda, everything gets a bit big. So as of last week, we're over 200 endings. That is not an exaggeration, but it deserves some descriptions."
The clarification is that, like other Fallout games, choices you make in the game will affect aspects of the ending, so that figure is really a combination of many sub-endings. The real question, then, is how many times do you have to beat the game to see every sub-ending?
Howard also confirmed that Fallout 3 is twice the size than anticipated and close to the size of Oblivion. "The game is easily 100 hours," he said. Howard also goes into detail about the dog companion. Fallout 3 is still on track for release this Fall.

What a minute, who said they're going to be movie clips? If they use cutscenes there's plenty of room.
Also, like many have said, most of these endings will be slight variations of each other, for example an extra person in a shot.

I like the sound of customisable endings and stories in games. Big thumbs up here. But I still would only see 1 of the endings. But I would feel its mine, an ending to take hope and copulate unsheathed with for the lack of other people sharing this specific ending.

The game has been on my radar for a while now... Even more anticipation building after this announcement... However, I believe that it will be like 10 core endings with different variations... I see no way that a game can have 200 completely different endings.... I hope I am surprised because you talk about replay value.... 200 endings is some serious replay value...

I just want to say that there's a welcome, high level of "win" in the comments to this article.

shit!
this is going to take awhile.
now if for some reason on 360 you got a different achievement for each ending, i would end up shooting myself.

I'm 0,5% more interested in this game than I was before... of course when I realized they were going real time my interest fell for about 99% so it's not really high right now... :)

It could have four ending and I would still be wicked pumped for this game. So how much variation between the endings does not concern me.
