EuroGamer reports that
a patch released five days ago, which intended to fix the
issues in the Xbox 360 version of
Bully: Scholarship Edition, may have caused more problems than it resolved. Reported problems include freezes, along with audio and graphic glitches. Rockstar explained that the issue is with older consoles, but EuroGamer states its (relatively new?) office Elite locks up.
We're still waiting to hear from Rockstar about what's really going on, but the company seems to have locked itself in the teacher's lounge and refuses to come out. So, what's the word on the virtual streets? Are people still having problems with their copy of
Bully on the Xbox 360?

I had no problems with this on my launch console prior to the patch and now the audio seems to glitch constantly and it's frozen once. The patch has made my copy worse.
burri123 @ Mar 26th 2008 5:34AM
i finished the game, it locked up on me once, at 10%. i didn't notice any difference after the patch really.
hsx5 @ Mar 26th 2008 6:22AM
Mine froze once before the patch and I lost about 2 hours of progress. I waited for the patch after that. Hasn't locked up yet but I've noticed the audio glitches people are talking about and some graphical glitches where peoples legs randomly spaz and are stretched out of proportion. So yea I'd say the patch made it worse lol :(

Was just thinking "Wonder what Rockstar are doing about this.."
BrotherSimon @ Mar 26th 2008 7:23AM
Hope they fix.

Before the patch, the game ran well enough for me, a few low frame issues, but rarely locked up and had no audio problems. Now, I have better on foot frame rates but horrible on bike frame rates, and all new audio glitches. what gives? Incidentally I have a launch 360.
Farseer (GDI) @ Mar 26th 2008 8:12AM
lol, I just started playing this last night, and the audio (specifically background chatter) glitches terribly when I enter a new area. I thought, didn't they just patch this game?
Other than the audio glitches, though, the game is really fun so far.
joevill @ Mar 26th 2008 8:14AM
The music stutters and there are visual glitches outside on the windows of buildings. It is highly annoying!
ScottG13 @ Mar 26th 2008 8:40AM
Meh. I finished this with the patch this weekend. No probs. Great game. A solid 8.
Firebomb 87 @ Mar 26th 2008 9:21AM
I still see graphical glitches all the time, especially in cut scenes. It has frozen up on me once or twice too, I lost a full hour worth of work at one point because it froze. It's a great game, but something seriously needs to be done.
NATO_Duke @ Mar 26th 2008 9:44AM
Nothing says BS like "Its because you have an older console!!!"
Optimaximal @ Mar 26th 2008 10:40AM
"YOU HAVE OLD COMPUTAR!!! BUY NEW (AGAIN) NOW!!1!"
Bloodjun @ Mar 26th 2008 9:46AM
Actually, I seem to be one of the lucky few for which Bully seems to be running better. I haven't had any lockups on a 360 Elite which was purchased sometime in September. I honestly believe R* was telling the truth when they said they believed it was only for older consoles. Now, how old are they talking?
Krazy XP @ Mar 26th 2008 10:19AM
I played through the whole game, did all the side stuff. Never crashed.
aggrazel @ Mar 26th 2008 10:53AM
I was at 60% completion when the patch came out and thanks to commentors on Joystiq I decided not to install the patch and finished the game. I really didn't have any problems with it, it locked up 3 times in the 25 hours or so I played it.
The game is now on its way back to Gamefly so I'll never have to bother with it again, I had fun with it anyway. Never played the PS2 version.
BigE @ Mar 26th 2008 11:21AM
Haven't had any problems with this game before or after patch. My Xbox was made in November 2007, non-falcon.
J @ Mar 26th 2008 11:38AM
I started playing it, had it lock up on me in the first mission with Gary, and decided to wait for the patch. I wasn't encouraged by the comments once the patch came through, but decided to give it a try anyway. After about 25% completion, I haven't had any problems. Zilch. My 360 was a replacement that I received in August.
MasterInsan0 @ Mar 26th 2008 12:02PM
It seems like Rockstar was in such a hurry to rush the patch out the door (like the game itself), they forgot to actually test it to see if it worked.
I was thinking about picking this up, but now I probably won't, not even for the Wii. I don't want to give Rockstar any money if this is the kind of crap they're going to shovel out.
Ryan de michigan @ Mar 26th 2008 12:26PM
been playing for ten hours now, before and after the patch, Non-Falcon Xbox, save frequently and haven't had a single problem
Desi_D @ Mar 26th 2008 12:33PM
Another inferior Xbox port! :D
Deedubbadoo @ Mar 26th 2008 12:40PM
Haven't downloaded the patch yet but mine freezes on the same spot every time, when I am on the last paper route. Other than that no lockups.
Danzig @ Mar 26th 2008 12:49PM
The game has locked on me three times and I am still under 30% completion. I've also not been able to complete missions due to major bugs like items not appearing and waypoints not triggering.
Bully = poopy
Aaron @ Mar 26th 2008 2:27PM
I snagged this title the other day, got the patch and played away. Anytime the game would freeze on me, I paused and unpaused to fix the glitch. This did happen multiple times throughout, with characters you have to follow moving in place, not saying the next line etc.
Ryan @ Mar 26th 2008 2:34PM
It locked up once after 15 minutes of play but nothing since then. Before or after the patch and I have an older console.
DJDarkBoy @ Mar 26th 2008 2:35PM
I can't wait for "Bully: Community College Edition" or perhaps they'll call it "Bully: More Money Edition".
Goon217 @ Mar 26th 2008 8:30PM
Pre patch, mine would lock up every hour or so, but now I can play consistently without any freezes :) So the patch definitely aided me.
Glenn @ Mar 31st 2008 11:57PM
I have an Elite and the game is playable for no more than 20 mins some days and other days it will play with no problems
"The problem is we don't know the problem" - Anyone

Like I said before. Remeber that Glitches and bugs are a everyday thing with EVERY game not just this one. I remeber when I bought Saints Row it had that crash and glitch problem and it happens ALOT. But I don't get bothered or anything because it is a everyday happening. So when I buy Bully for the 360 I'll expect it to react like Saints Row did I donot have or own Xbox Live and I'm notas lucky as you guys with newer models. But I can deal and some of you guys can do the same.
david woods @ Apr 7th 2008 5:39PM
yeah we have had problems on an elite which itself is only 1week old! so def nothing to do with the spec of the console more to do with the dodgy coding behind the scenes...
After playing bully on ps2 with no problems how hard can it be to get it right on a different console, its not like they have done that much different/new..
sort it rockstar you should no better, im very angry about it...!!!! £35 on an unfinished, ill coded game thanks...
