If the in-game subway breaks down, will I be able to go on a rampage for extra points?

That's all I want to know.

That's strikingly drab and minimalist for a GTA insert...I call shenanigans!

"it still seems odd that a map depicting an alternate version of New York City would spell neighborhood in an un-American fashion"

Ummm... why?

It probably IS the European version of the game, thus explaining the different spelling. Brits don't have to adopt American english for their game manuals just because the game is set in a fake city which loosely resembles an American city.

Its said the map will be technically smaller than San Andreas but richer in content, the way all games are going these days. GTAXLI will have the entire game be in one parking lot in East Los Santos, but man, that parking lot will be PACKED with content.

Yeah, it's un-American to spell things correctly. Must be fake.
(You do realise the developers are Scottish though, right?)

That is likely the UK map. That is how you spell neighbourhood here. I don't tend to think about American spellings when things like neighbourhood, colour, armour and the rest only have subtle differences. Another think is that the game is being developed in Scotland so thats likely it. Besides I've seen actual American words used in games set in the UK that seems completely out of character for a typical British person to say. So yeah I think it's the real one.

I declare shenanigans as well. I maybe wrong but I don't ever remember there being Control layouts on the Maps. The maps for GTA were always just that the Map and some stupid ads. The control scheme was always in the Manual. I know it's something simple but that's my take.

Wow... That blows... I've been really tempted by this game, and now I'm hearing all sorts of things about it, and I'm getting some doubts.

But in New York City, those regions are referred to as the "Five Boroughs" (note the "u"). This would make that spelling make a little more sense.

Looks solid to me. The misspelling issue is silly, and there's a whole bunch of details in the map that someone trying to pull a fast one would almost certainly have missed.

Going to have to agree. I'm now hoping this is a fake, as i like X = Accelerate, [] = brake/reverse. HOW DARE THEY CHANGE IT! ME = :(

These controls exactly match the 360 version's controls, something that has been screwed up in GTAIII's generation. Why have X be accel when L2 is a trigger, and thus has better control.

If this is the final PS3 (and thus matching the 360) control scheme, then I welcome the changes.

Rockstar North (the dev studio for the GTA series) is in Scotland, and has made plenty of minor mixups with UK/US language and cultural convention before. (For example, the drugstores in Vice City were all referred to as "Chemists".) There may be reasons to call shenanigans on this map, but "neighbourhoods" isn't one of 'em.

Yes, actually Rockstar DID contact us and asked us to take down the shots. So please call your bullshit elsewhere.

As kind of real as it looks i have to ask, wheres the ammu-nations? They cant take that out after all this time i mean theyre classic!

I'm fairly sure that in the GTA IV article in Edge this month they said that there wouldn't be any Ammu-nations. It makes sense really - it was like a supermarket for guns, whereas a gangster is simply not going to go down that route for firearms.

its a fucking map, right? thats it, it could be "real" or "fake" in the end who gives a fuck. id rather know something thats a tad more interesting, like they included a potatoe launcher that you fill with rolls of quarters and shoot through people, or they have a shooting gallery filled with EA employees holding moneybags.

SO the layout of the game world that you will be playing in for many hours is of no interest to you?

If real this is awesome. I was already trying to read the street names to see if I could see anything interesting.

I wasn't too hyped for this game, but knowing that it has a Gears cover system and now that the release is coming close, I am starting to get excited. This just set me off.

What happened to the rest of Brooklyn?! If only they made it scale. That'd be awesome. Just a 1:1 New York City and that's all you'd need.
