Guerrilla Games QA Manager Seb Downie popped into the "KILLZONE DATED!!" thread on the official PlayStation.com Forums to let us know that the developer hasn't sanctioned the release month 'confirmed' by SCEE earlier today. "Sorry folks, as before, please take any release dates, or months with a grain of salt," Downie writes. "If we haven't announced it, it is not gospel."
In other news, we're hearing reports (actually, we're just making them up) that a giant dartboard was discovered in the dumpster behind SCEE headquarters. In place of points: calendar months, and a dart labeled "Top Secret Project: KZONE2" apparently extracted from the "Sept." region. We have yet to confirm claims that the bull's-eye is a likeness of Dr. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury and principal leader of the Church of England.

Quite frankly even they released the game in the current state its at it would still be a game winner of the GOTY award thanks to the amazing graphics.

That's pretty shallow and by that theory Crysis would win GOTY.
In all honesty though that's the only reason I can think of that Bioshock won, other than the solid atmosphere for the first 15 minutes of the game before you waved away all the smoke and initial sparkle.

Ok at its finished state it will win GOTY...
-Best graphics in a game ever
-Hype
-Good gameplay (and we know Sony will make sure this is important unlike the first game in the series)
-Good AI (check the trailer and you'll see this)
-All the enviroments in the game are destructible.
There is no way this game can't win GOTY if everything plays out the way it should...
Plus this is the year of the PS3 right? Which reminds me that other PS3 games like LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 might just ruin Killzone 2's chance of GOTY.

Eh I like the lighter series Rachet & Clank, Resistance wasn't anything special for me.
Honestly the only exclusive must buy for the PS3 this year is LBP (for me atleast). I have enough shooters on the 360. Most great games I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year are multiplatform with the exception of Too Human, Gears of War 2, Fable 2 and Guitar Hero On Tour (for the DS).

I agree Resistance 1 wasn't anything special but let me remind you while Resistance 2 might be special:
-8 player online co-op
-60 player matches
-Online character classes
-Heavy online integration creating one of the best online experiences
-Insomniac is going to use parts of COD4's online that has worked for that game and put it in Resistance
And thats just the least of it.

That may be about MGS4, but we were speaking of Killzone 2.
Honestly I never really cared for Metal Gear games much besides the NES version. I did enjoy Solid 1 & 2 a bit though, just not my favorite of series, my PS1 was used to play classic RPGs like Chrono Cross (Greatest game of all time).

Well that delay took less time then I figured, meh still doesn't make much of a difference I've got twelve 360 games to buy and finish this year alone (so long as no more great titles get 2008 release dates).

At first when I read your comment I read it like this
"I've got twelve 360s to buy"
the funny thing is that, that may be true for most 360 owners due to the high (almost 50%, compared to Sony's less than 1%) failure rate.

Honestly this is going to sound like I'm spinning this to save face as a 360 own but my last 360 red ringing was the best thing that happened to me in a while. I was strongly addicted to the online gaming and it helped me re-evaluate what was important in life. You know like passing a semester in college.

Really? 50%? Less than 1%? Honestly, you're pretty damned stupid. No way in Hell, with nearly 10 million units sold is the PS3's failure rate at less than 1%. Maybe the first few months it came out, but not anymore- its likely, at best, at 3-5%.
50% was never even projected by EB Games/Gamestop who's guess, guaranteed, was bloated at 33%, of which, has since been reported at a 15-16% failure rate, which, while not good, is nowhere near 50% on either of the proposed statements.
Even if it was a 50% failure rate, that would still mean that there are roughly the same amount of 360 owners out there who haven't had a single problem and are enjoying the large library of games. Hell, I'm sure that a majority of the people who have had issues with their 360s are STILL not perturbed by it as it is a short 2-3 week wait.
By the way, I'm still on my launch 360 manufactured on October 12th, 2005, and I will continue enjoying the numerous games I own, as well as those set for future release.

Sure the game looks great but I hate this trend of "lets remove 90% of all colors to make the visuals more realistic and ramp up the AA/HDR Lighting."
I hope there is a demo first because I HAVE to buy Too Human, Fable 2 and Fallout 3 already. Her's hoping this isn't all smoke and mirrors.

As goes for all games apparently. I want a pretty vibrantly colored shooter with over the top violence. Like a fucking bleeding rainbow! HELL YEAH!
The drab colors bore me to death and that's one reason I'm so iffy about Killzone 2 regardless of whether or not you think they have a place in such a game.

I actually like the realism from washed out color palettes. Several review sites have declared Uncharted the current console graphical king, but because of the bright color palette, it doesn't look nearly as "real" as Killzone or Gears. Hell, even compare Gears to Unreal 3. The characters are pretty much the same, except the jumpsuits are red and the walls are purple.
The only dull palette I dislike is Resistance. World War Brown is soooo 1940s.

Dude, you need to be less biased, and try actually playing other consoles before basing your entire opinions on the gamers playing it.

Thats not always a bad thing, war games aren't meant to be colourful, they are supposed to capture the dire atmosphere they were intended to create.
War isn't happy, so take that comment to the chin and glorify it :)
Could you imagine Gears looking as tropical and vibrant as Halo?

You have earned my hatred Lp47PS3, nothing pisses me off more than people who add "er" to names and words out of ignorance.
I never stated the 360 had better shooters once. I only spoke of exclusives I'm looking for this year on each console. The only shooter I stated looking forward to is Gears of War 2. The rest were RPG's, a platformer and one music game for the DS. With the exception of Naruto Rise of a Ninja I have yet to play an acceptional platformer but hopefully LBP can sate my appetite.
What do you mean by rating? I never stated Killzone 2 won't be a great game. I just don't like my games to be so drab and depressing (usually). It just isn't my bag baby. In COD4 I can't stand playing the grey/brown maps (which severly limits my multiplayer options to Crash and Overgrown really, one of the reasons I strayed away from that recently).
My ideal FPS's are Farcry and Unreal Tournament, both of which are full of colors and the former takes place in a tropical paradise (with the exception of later levels which I fucking hated). Both of which are PC games. I enjoy all the consoles buddy, I'm not a blind ignorant fanboy.
I do on occasion enjoy a horror/sci-fi type shooter like Resident Evil 4 though or Gears of War.

That outside CGI trailer shown had a bit of colour. It also showed more than just shades of grey. Anyways.
@ Anitcrawl. I didn't mean to put "er" at the end of your name. It was an accident. I also get what your saying, but i doubt Killzone 2 will be drab and depressing. All I was saying is don't judge this game to early we've only seen footage from one.
-The footage shown was dark only because the Helgasts can control clouds and lightning. I'm sure there will be levels with much more colour than the usual black/grey levels FPS fans are getting bored of.
I also enjoy tropical games like Uncharted or the upcoming HAZE and Far Cry 2.
No fanboy fighting/bashing was intended.

The PS3 doesnt delay many games. If Sony delay's a game it's because they want to tune the game before release. If you have been working on a game for about 4 years you better make sure it sells big with good press reviews or those 4 years of development wernt worth the time. So by delaying a big budget title Sony has more time to polish or tune the game.

"The PS3 doesnt delay many games."
Even as a PS3 fanboy I can't agree with you. Many titles in 2007 were delayed due to the PS3. Or if they weren't delayed the title was released and was extremely lacking compared to the 360 version.
However in 2008 this seems to be turning around a bit with much less delays, better dev tools from Sony and more developers are learning how to use Cell processor.

As a PSP fanboy some games I wanted buy got delayed to the point I didn't care anymore for example I was a huge MK fan so when I heard I could play deception on the go (Also Infected) I bought the PSP but MK:U was delayed to next year and when it was released it sucked.
Then again there were so many good games while I waited for MK:U that I didn’t care at all.

The games that were delayed in 2007 were usually 3rd party titles. Many developers struggled with the new tech. Some wrapped there heads around it and made great titles and some seemed to give up. caugh "EA" caugh. Alot of multiplatform games released on 360 in 2006. Finally made there way to PS3. Though they seemed like delayed titles in real they were actually released on the 360 before the PS3 was on the market. So development for the PS3 versions would have to start 1 year later. Alot of those games were just ports ment to make a quick buck. (As we all know ports ment to maximise profits usually end up bad) Many 3rd party developers have grasped the reins of the PS3 powerhorse. Therefore mulitplatform releases like Devil May Cry 4 look just as good on PS3 as they do on 360.
If a game is delayed. it is not always a bad thing. Many times developers need more time to tune, polish the game before a big release. BIG games that undergo 4 year development life cycles can not afford to be rushed and flop. For instance MGS4 and GTA4. Both games have been in development for 3+ years. They are both multi million dollar budget games that need to sell big to make a profit. If the developer finds the need to delay either due to some bugs or more polishing needed. They will delay the game so when it does get released the game sells well and has positive reviews from the press. More importantly doesn't dissapoint the fans!

I'm starting to figure out why Sony calls it a ten year console (Do I need to explain this lame joke?) I like how The sony boys are STILL going on about what "future" games on the PS3 will offer. 8 player co-op in resistance 2. 60 players online and so on. Look back at what the PS3 claimed it would do and make a list of what it failed at. Multiple 1080p monitors comes to mind. I'm sure others can chime in with more. My point is as long as they delay these games and you keep lapping up the spin you'll be so ready for it you'll accept the games in any state at some point. AND STILL CLAIM THEY ARE AWESOME. Killzone 2 won't win shit. The only reason it is dragging on is not to polish it up. The PS3 sucks to develope for but Sony sure as hell can't say that so they have to keep feeding you reasons for delays and you keep believing. So damn sad.
