Guerrilla: Killzone 2 September date isn't 'gospel'

Guerrilla Games QA Manager Seb Downie popped into the "KILLZONE DATED!!" thread on the official PlayStation.com Forums to let us know that the developer hasn't sanctioned the release month 'confirmed' by SCEE earlier today. "Sorry folks, as before, please take any release dates, or months with a grain of salt," Downie writes. "If we haven't announced it, it is not gospel."

In other news, we're hearing reports (actually, we're just making them up) that a giant dartboard was discovered in the dumpster behind SCEE headquarters. In place of points: calendar months, and a dart labeled "Top Secret Project: KZONE2" apparently extracted from the "Sept." region. We have yet to confirm claims that the bull's-eye is a likeness of Dr. Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury and principal leader of the Church of England.

I can't front, as for the graphics for PS2 standards, KZ1 looked good..

However, the constant "GET 'EMMMMMM!!" 5 soldiers (one with a red cap) rushing out of a door/hole/dropship/corner every 5 minutes got boring really quick...

The thing is Playstation products can last 10 years. There not just saying it. Look at the PS2. What is it 8 years old and still claimed 3rd spot in februarys NDP stats. Sony isnt trying to screw you over by making you buy a new console very 4 years. They build there systems with up to date tech and "future proof" parts. Ex. Bluray.
- Many 3rd party companies have found positive strenghts from the PS3 hardware. Bluray is often praised for, due to the extra space. Some technological advancements in the PS3 have also been quite rewarding for developers. Either in terms of graphics, physics, AI, or the open online (EPIC likes). Insomniac have made 2 games on the PS3 since launch. Both got over 9 ratings on IGN. Insomniac makes a game a year and is really happy with what the PS3 can do for them in terms of gameplay, physics. blah. blah. So Is the PS3 really that bad to develop for? Sure as heck not. Sure some devs had some struggles with there 1st year games. But they now have figured the system out and are continually fleshing out multiplatform games that are on par with the 360 versions.
- Killzone 2 is the best looking game coming this year? I think so. Graphically weve seen the demo which was pre alpha. No polish so on.. It looks amazing. So I do believe it's set up to win a few awards this year. One last thing. You said they were making up excuses for delaying it. Well the games stil pre alpha. Well was at E3. They actually do need to polish and fix any bugs.

Sorry amigo, but most of what you said was either fanboy spin, conjecture or simply untrue. Let's face it, the PS2 was, spec-wise, the least impressive console of the last generation. For whatever reason it found mass market appeal and that's why it still sells well. "Future proof" parts my ass. Unless of course you're still buying into all that emotion engine bullshit.
You also quote Ratchet and Clank and Resistance as getting "over a 9" on IGN, perhaps unaware that there are other sources for game ratings. Looking at a metacritic score, both fall below a 9 overall, though to be fair Ratchet is very close. Resistance is closer to an 8.5 overall.
As far as Killzone 2 being amazing, previous experience tells me not to get my hopes up when it comes to the Killzone franchise. You can freak out if you want to, but it's a little unwarranted. By all means, listen to the hype, just realize that your opinion on the subject is completely baseless.

Talk about on a pay role... :S

The Delaystation 3 is not cool...

No games worth playing on it and the ones that are either being hyped up by the sony fanboys or are guaranteed to be at least a lil tempting to those on the fence are delayed or scheduled for years from now...

All consoles have great games, if you are blind enough not to see them, it makes you a fanboy.

Well dunno bout you, but that hasn't been the case for everyone, the problem with you guys is you speak as if your opinion is what everyone else must abide by. If I can find games I like on all consoles, what is stopping anyone else?

The only reason you can't find games on PS3 is because you don't have one, stop lying ¬_¬

If anyone thinks that the release version of Killzone 2 will look like the E3 trailers, you need to get off whatever you're smoking.

Killzone 2 won't look like those CGI enhanced trailers.
