Many orcs are putting on their sad faces today as Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning suffers another delay. Eurogamer reports that the game's producer, Jeff Hickman, stated the title is being pushed from Q2 until the fall. WAR's last delay, which shifted it from 2007 to this year, was blamed on EA's takeover of Mythic, though it did affordthe company more time to polish the title.
The only thing that raises a red flag about WAR releasing this fall is a little game called World of Warcraft and its expansion that many believe will hit later this year. We're just saying, if we were releasing a fantasy-themed MMO, we'd leave as much breathing room as possible between our game and any WoW release.

I would be more excited if it were WH40K the MMO. As it is, I doubt this will override my aversion to subscription fees.
As a side note, WH40K isn't caught by Firefox's spell check, but uncapitalized "firefox" and "MMO" are both marked as errors. Weird.

The game certainly needs a lot more time. Combat isn't fun, environments aren't interesting, character advancement and balance is non-existant, and a lot of key functionality is still missing or broken.
It's the first beta I've been a part of, where I've seen a game fail to show significant improvements over a period of a couple months.

Do they know that it's now coming out at the same time as the next WoW expansion? That might sway them slightly.

I love the Warhammer Fantasy universe, but game isn't looking any more promising than it did years ago. I've heard they're shooting for a Teen rating, which goes totally against the dark themes and brutal combat (not to mention dirty, filthy peasants) that make Warhammer stand out from IPs like WoW.
Instead, it's just sounding more and more like a WoW clone that sold its soul. I hope I'm wrong.

Age of Conan, WoW expansion, and EQ2 will probably have a new expansion by then as well. Who knows what else might pop up between now and then as well?
Warhammer Online is definitely making me wonder why they're having to delay as much as they have (this will actually be their third delay; 1st for game improvements & content, 2nd for EA take over).
