SOCOM Confrontation deploys Sept. 16 on PS3, community site launches today

EGM's May issue looks to provide a plethora of information on the upcoming PS3 title. With SOCOM's Sept. date, it appears Sony is really stacking its big announced titles for the last few months of the year. Start dropping change in the coin jar now because holiday '08 is already looking just as brutal on the wallet as '07.

Wow this title is looking great...
I think when people look at which line up looks better for 2008 clearly PS3 has the best line up. I honestly think Sony is really coming back with games that are really fantastic.
The Socom fanbase will jump at this game as they need a new Socom. Plus at a discounted price its a bargain.
Wow PS3 is so impressive this year... I'm gunna need a 3rd one!

Eh, that's a matter of opinion. In my mind there is--
PC - Guild Wars 2, Farcry 2 & Mirror's Edge
PS3 - LBP & SOCOM
360 - Fable 2, Too Human(most anticipated title for me) and Gears of War 2
Wii - Mario Kart
DS - Guitar Hero On Tour
PSP - I have no idea *glances over at dusty logitech psp stealth case*
Multiplatform - Fallout 3 (Will get for the 360 for private chat) and some other games I can't remember.
So for me the 360 has the strongest line-up because it has Too Human, then it's PC, PS3, DS, Wii, PSP.

All of these titles are going to sell more on 360 so if the PS3 catches up to 360 its not because of exclusives its because of Bluray. Im just stating the facts. Lets get it straight people.

In that case you should list the PSN titles in the interest of fairness.
I guess it all depends on the games you want, both sets look pretty varied and pretty good.
I don't think its much about the exclusives themselves, but more so the quality of the exclusives. Gears was incredible, so I expect the same from Gears 2, but the likes of Banjo, Alan Wake and Killzone for examples strike me as questionable.

Probably but not necessarily. It all depends on numbers from Japan, look at DMC 4.
You conveniently "forgot" to mention the following PS3 exclusives:
White Knight Chronicles
Little Big Planet
Infamous
Valkyrie Chronicles
Disgaea 3
Motorstorm 2
Yakuza 3
Also since you made special notice of games that aren't proven on the PS3 side...
Lost Odyssey got lukewarm reviews at best. And how are Halo Wars, Too Human, Alan Wake, and Left 4 Dead any more "proven" than KZ2 and Haze??? They're not.

Because Alan Wake and Left 4 Dead haven't proven anything, while the Killzone franchise has already proven that it sucks ;).
Seriously, I don't get the hype for Killzone 2. Killzone 1 was an immensely hyped game that ended up blowing chunks. If one game defines "did not live up to the hype" then it is that game.
So we have Killzone 2, a hyped up sequel to a hyped up game that sucked. Yippee.
The PS3 has a great lineup for '08, and I'm looking forward to playing many of those games, but anyone that puts Killzone in their list of important upcoming exclusives instantly loses their credibility.

Ever heard of Killzone Liberation? Sometimes developers learn from thier mistakes, and if its up to Sony Guerilla will learn from thier mistakes.
The reason why Killzone 2 is so hyped and its on so many peoples list is that Guerrila proved themselves as good developers with Killzone Liberation... Oh and have I mentioned that Killzone 2 looks to be one of the best looking games so far.

The thing is, Liberation is very different to making a full on FPS, Liberation takes on a Third Perspective, on a PSP that passes as great, but on PS3, a lot more is expected of it. I can't see why it cannot do better then Resistance did, but when we are looking at the likes of Halo and COD4, then it'll have a real struggle, Resistance 2 should do that no problem with a few tweaks, but apart from the gameplay we've seen, we still know little or nothing about Killzone 2. We dunno what multiplayer will be like, if it has co-op, and how many, if people can join in, if it has a create level mode, or what, it could be just a typical FPS with great graphics and nothing much else.
An FPS without co-op isn't much of an FPS, an FPS without a good multiplayer (where Killzone 1 failed) again isn't much of an FPS, and an FPS without much of a replability factor, such as Timesplitters 2 did with mini missions etc, again, isn't much of an FPS.
The only thing that Halo 3 had going for me really was Co-op, multiplayer and forge, while the likes of COD4 and Timesplitters gave me FPS experiences I will never forget, lets hope Killzone 2 can do the same.

Talking about Guild Wars they should really fix the way the story is told for the next installment. Most of the time it was “click here for XP and Gold” and it really sucked in the first game and in the expansion that missions gave you XP when you were LVL 20 already and gold farming was a tedious task.
Nightfall was great and way better than the first 2 games.
Back in topic:
Wii:Mine is broken right now so I have to repair it and I have a lot of tasks to finish before I can play Brawl again but my list is Mario Kart and whatever it is released in the year but Wiiware and VC will keep me busy.
Xb360:Again too much freaking work but the next month I'll buy all the game I couldn't play March and April including Naruto and Sega super stars Tennis.
Ps3:MGS4, Killzone, Socom, MGS: Online, Ratchet and Clank, Home and LBP hopefully a Loco Roco Game.
PSP: Chains of Olympus, Pursuit Force EJ and Tag Force 3 perhaps.
DS: Professor Layton games, Phoenix Wright and that Magic game maybe YGOGX:08

What I really like is the mix of games is also pretty good. My picks:
Shooters: Haze, RFOM2, though may give KZ2 and SOCO a shot
Racing: Motorstorm 2, GT5 P and Wipeout (incredible as it may seem, the first game in the series I would play)
Fighting games: Tekken 6
Platformer: LBP
RPG: White knight story
Sandbox: Infamous, Yakuza 3 if it comes here

I'm getting this game. I hope that PS Bluetooth headset comes w/ it. That'll be a deal! 2008 is the PS3's year.
P.S. I knew KZ2 wouldnt release in Sept. It'll release in 2009 along the next set of sequels to PROVEN franchises.
