Facing Worlds? I guess that is a new version of the CTF Facing Worlds from the original UT? That was an awesome map.

I missed Facing Worlds so much. I wasn't a huge fan of the remake, but we'll see how the UT3 one is.

Facing Worlds in UT = best CTF map ever.

I know I may be alone in this, but I'd love a UT3 remake of DM-Morpheus.

Agreed. Whilst most of the community hated Face3 I actually loved it. It was perfect for the style of gamplay UT2k4 had at the time. (Double dodging and all that stuff). It even made a great low grav Istagib map.

Glad to see FacingWorlds back in the game. It should have been released on day one.

Huh? Everyone here is always bashing PSN vs Xbox Live. PSN is free and its pretty damn good considering how much you pay for it. Xbox Live has also been out since 2002 vs 2006 for PSN, not fair to compare the two at all.

I like they take money instead of stupid points and then some points are left over and useless. Same with letting you use most 2.5" HDDs vs buying Microsoft's proprietary hard drives. 120gb HDD for $180? I can get a much larger 2.5" HDD to put in a PS3 for that amount. And $100 for their Wi-Fi adaptor is ridiculous.

Sony, for a company that is known to be restrictive, use proprietary standards, DRM, etc. They are pretty open here with the PS3 am I right?

I will agree that Sony's attitude towards things like this seems more flexible than MS's. You have to pay for the Gears Map pack when they first came out. Epic wasn't too happy about it either if I remember correctly. They conceded since they have no choice, but its good to see that Sony is trying to set a precedent with this, and now MS will have to follow suite.

Someone on joystiq mentioned that MS will have to give the map pack away for free since Sony is already. Thanks for this!

What would REALLY be interesting is what if Epic released the healing gun from the original UT Bonus Pack? How many people do you think would yell how they ripped off TF2?

First. When someone says in before (some stupid point) its usually because they support the opposite. So you saying in before "ps3 online > 360 online" indicated that you are a 360 supporter expecting PS3 fanboys to bash PS3 online... So yeah...

Anyway. Live uses a point system so MS can simply say this one item is one hundred points limiting any issues with exchange rates and deciding price points.

You win with the required xbox hard drive... But their 100 dollar wi fi adapter has more versatility than your average adapter and traditionally works better than most.

And the best for last. How hard would it have been for PSN to be based off of the already established Live system instead of starting out from scratch. Companies tend to look at the competition that has a working platform and model themselves off of that... Sony just ignored the fact that there was a revolutionary system in the works... So in that they fail.

Not sure if enough people play TF2 to even realize it?

I actually don't remember the healing gun from the original. I must of never downloaded the bonus pack.

Do you mean not enough people play UT3 to notice? Because I'm pretty sure TF2 is only behind CS 1.6, CS Source, and maybe BF2 in terms of players on PC, obviously this doesn't include MMOs. It slaughters UT3 in popularity, both because of the quality of the game but largely because Epic/Midway did pretty much everything possible to screw up the launch and it's going to take a monumental effort for UT3 to even get back to the popularity levels of UT2004 let alone UT99.

But I don't really remember the healing gun from UT either. I do remember something like that though, but though I still play UT occasionally I don't think I've played any UT Bonus Pack stuff in years.

"Anyway. Live uses a point system so MS can simply say this one item is one hundred points limiting any issues with exchange rates and deciding price points."

As I understand it the MS point system works the same way as the Wii point system, and the purchase of points for each is still based on currency and thus will vary from country to country. 10,000 Wii points will still cost me $10 US to buy, plus tax, then exchange rate. And just like the Wii system, 800 MS points will cost an American less than it will a Canadian.

What is the benefit to the consumer? It's a lot more clear and less complicating to go on the PSN Store and see Warhawk for $32.99 and know that's exactly how much I'm going to pay. Versus having to calculate differences in value between actual money, MS points and exchange rates among currencies.

I'll fully admit LIVE is largely a superior system in function, but don't try and justify Microsoft's strive to gouge as a consumer benefit.

such a great game. if you own a PS3 and don't have UT3, you're doing yourself a disservice. also, i'm not the type to complain about paying for extra content (as long as it's reasonably priced), but it's really nice to see a company giving out maps for FREE!

That would be nice, but there's some problems with that. First, they would need to have some sort of certification/approval process. They couldn't simply allow anything and everything into the store. Second, they would likely never be able to offer items like that Master Chief model through the store, evenif free. MS is apparently fine with the model existing, but they would surely send out the lawyers if it ended up in the PSN store.

What they really need to do is allow models and maps to be installed through the browser.... like the themes. The PS3 themes can be linked on a web page and the PS3 will auto install them if you click on those links. If they could set up a similar system for UT mods, maps, and models that would be great.

Phranctoast... Why do you think they haven't released it yet? They are working on ways to get that content in a safe manner as that would be the only way Microsoft would allow it to happen.

Also, most people with consoles don't care about keyboard support and with the console version's slowness (PS3) compared to the PC version, the keyboard and mouse's advantages are pretty much lost anyway. On top of that, the Xbox 360's controller is arguably better and is far more comfortable than the PS3's for shooters (as is declared by most who have experienced both, including me); furthermore, most play their PS3's on a TV- not on a desk, so keyboard and mouse support would be rather complicated and uncomfortable.

How could everyone have forgotten about TV Trays. Seriously, a decent wood one runs you $15 at most stores. I bought one for Beatmania, the KB&M advantage kept it around.

Uhmmm, did they patch/add split-screen to it yet?

I haven't played it since I got COD4, because there isn't even a LAN multiplayer (let alone online)..

The free maps are nice and all, but there's no use if I can't play with my buddies between Rockband sessions -.-

See Infinity Ward. It is possible to release maps for free.

Still hoping that three weeks later when ps3 users get the maps, they will be free. Then MS will have to follow suite.

I didn't like UT3 at first but it really grew on me. Bought it on Steam and really surprised it ran well on my system. Still no UT2004 and definitely no TF2 but it has its place.

Hope the Steam version gets these new maps!

I don't like the new CTF map searchlight-- its beautiful, great assets (can't wait for modders to use them, but the flow is poor, and it seems kinda confusing and haphazard. Maybe I'll like it more as I play more.

Facing Worlds is a brilliant remake with a great visual style, great performance, and tons of fun.

Morbias sucks, but I hate arena maps.

Must be nice to get free stuff for such a great game. Too bad it came out for a shitty system with a fanbase that didn't even appreciate it (the sales figures prove me right). Can't wait till it comes out for the 360.
