EA announces 'Zubo,' DS rhythm game aimed at kids

And since we're wearing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pajamas at this very moment, we figure it might as well be aimed at us too. Gleefully skipping into the crosshairs with us are boys and girls aged 7-11, whom EA's Casual Entertainment Label hopes to please with the release of Zubo, a DS-exclusive "music-based rhythm-action game featuring a unique set of characters."

Slated to ship worldwide this Fall, Zubo has players zealously aiding the inhabitants of Zubalon -- those would be the eponymous Zubos -- and consequently foiling the insidious Zombos (zombie hobos?). There's a zoological element to the game, as you'll be able to recruit, feed and strengthen various Zubos before tossing them into muzak-and-rhythm battles. We also expect to encounter an evil Zamboni at some point, but we'll have to wait and zee.

A DS game....aimed at kids?!?!?! What is next? A Wii game that is a PS2 port? The mind simply boggles.

It could be okay. At least they are admitting to targetting kids, rather than hyping it up to something that we adult gamers would waste our money on.

But if you know you are purchasing a game just for your kids, it makes something like this welcome.

While i agree, i can't help but point out a few things:
1.The art Style screams "Love child between little people and LEGO"
2.The art above isn't in-game art (you all know that...) and thusly is not representative of the turd they push out.
3.It's an EA game....

OK, fine it's not really a valid argument, but name a good game that came from the bowels of EA that didn't suck. Burnout Paradise? Ok, but the music was crippled by EA Trax.... other than that.....

It just feels to me like it's Shovelware... high quality shovelware, usable shovelware, but still shovelware....

Why re-invent the wheel when you can secure the entire Samba fanbase (all three of them...)

Ok, done rambling.... i'll wait for more info before passing any harsh judgement, but i smell something not good....
