There's an article that says that GT5P had 1 million preorders.

That was the same case with Mario Galaxy and several other games. Mario Galaxy had 800,000 pre-orders in Japan, and only sold 250,000 in the first week.

Everyone think that GT5P will sell 1 million int he first day, and I say that it will not sell the million even in the first week.

The PS3 install base in Europe is 3.8 million. To sell a million of copies first day, that means it have to sell to almost 30% of the install base, and thats pretty hard.

That's my opinion, but if that happend, well, congratlations.

Rocker, you'll be getting that game.

1,000,000 Europeans are not going to pay $40 for a demo. Just because they speak funny languages over there doesn't mean they are mentally retarded.

And when you win Fernando no doubt you'll add "Sony fanboys said GT5P would sell a million on the first day rofl" to your list of things Sony fanboys say.

http://akayuki.com/2008/03/06/famitsus-top-10-next-gen-numbers/

Only Japan numbers

6. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (BR version) - SCEJ - 202,131

Not enough PS3 = WEAK sales
200,000+(number of PSN dsales, in Japan (online games are mostly ignored) = not very much)
Very dissapointing considering earlier Prologue sales 1,000,000+ IIRC

Haha... I'm not going to disappear. I actually figure there's a very good chance I'll lose. But what the hell, I've had 2K sitting in my Wii account for over year. Need to spend them on something eventually. May as well make a small friendly wager even if the odds are stacked against me.

You know, I'd love to read a sony thread without fernando's juvenile attention-whoring. Are you that bored of waggle bowling already that you have to persistently do this?

I could care less about your little bets, and even less about how many copies GT5P sells. I was hoping to read some first impressions from some euros, but you had to infect us with your derail.

¡callate cabrón!

Two questions.

Is the demo free?

And

Is there going to be damage this time around (I'm pretty sure the Cell could handle it :D)

Prologue is a prologue.
The demo was available on the japanese PSN ( I'm told its no longer available, but i was recently able to re-download it about 2 weeks ago)

The demo had maybe a dozen cars and one track.

All we have for proof on the damage is conversations with kazanori, and we all know how well he keeps his words :(

i hope there will be damage but at the moment, its a big fiasco because the driving sim would have to incorporate the damage like a crash sim, it would be expected to react realistically. doing so probably makes car manufacturers nervous that it may expose even theoretical safety flaws and unless all the cars reacted the same way, make the competition look bad in the process so there's a ton of legal balance being worked out no doubt to make sure adding the damage would live up to the rest of the game's over the top for the time physics and what not.

The Damage in Forza is not realistic though. It's a good feature, but still not near real-life physics.

You know what's funny? you said that Forza in a way is ahead of GT but then you go ahead and say that GT has no competition

"Forza hadn't been doing it for 5 years.

you know why there's no damage in GT? Lazy ass programmers and no competition."

Anyway, like Kye mentioned, Forza has damage which indeed is nice, but has been proven countless times that it isn't well simulated, and if the Forza crowd complains about it (Yes, that's auto fans for you, they bitch about everything!), imagine what would happen to GT which has a bigger fanbase?....better not have it than to do a poor job...

I'll buy GT5 if they have car damage, I want to see a beautifully crashed Ferrari!

Hmm - wonder which I'll go for?

How can they get away with that!

remember euro guys, instead of buying gt5 at lets say - the german psn store, buy it in the uk store. its only 31 Euros - you save 8 Euros. Just create a UK account with a fake address (bogus street and city name will do) and add your CC. i was able to buy everyday shooter like that from the US store LONG BEFORE it was released here...

Okay the if this worth’s 40$ or not is still in debate but the question here is

The people who are going to buy this are they going to pay 40 to 60$ for the full game next year?

If this game is as complete as Sony fanboys say then paying for the full game next year is just absurd , you would be paying for damage models and new tracks.
I mean unless Polyphony is giving discounts or free stuff to the people that bought prologue when GT5 is released it seems like they are just hurting themselves.

It would’ve been a better idea just charge the price of the full game and give them Prologue while GT5 is released. Like some sort of pre-order.

I agree with that. I think there should be a discount of some sort for GT5P owners, even if it's not a full $40 off the final retail game. I doubt I'll be buying GT5 anyway since it's not really my type of racer, but if I was I think I'd hold out for the final game. I think you have to be a pretty hardcore fan of the series to do this.

actually since polyphony digital keeps crying that damage modeling is too hard, the "unforgiving barrier" becomes quite forgiving. because somewhere, someone thinks the "most realistic driving simulator" should allow you to ram a lotus elise into a concrete wall at 120 mph and drive away with a slight time penalty and a speedometer reduced to 40 mph.

glitched -- it's been back and forth on the damage issue, my bet is it won't be realized due to "time constraints" and relegated to the "next installment".

i realize im using a lot of "quotation marks" but all of the "official comments" regarding this game are getting extremely "cliche'd".

i dont need to know what shade of chrome the engine block of my honda civic is when i crash its front end into a wall. just give me something between a dent and "totaled" and i'll be happy.

but due to 'last minute' tech issues

it fell over till today.

they have been promising that since GT2! The excuse for that was "oh, the car companies didnt want to see their cars wrecked."
