We were delighted (and frightened) when we heard casting details for the new Street Fighter flick, but we're a little less eager to learn the stars of a Tekken movie. We guess it's largely because we have a harder time keeping the Tekken stable straight (it's the one with Pepsiman, right?). Regardless, Kung Fu Cinema says they've obtained a slew of casting details. The site lists Kelly Overton as Christie, Luke Goss as Steve Fox (we knew that one), Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury, Candice Hillebrand as Nina Williams, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Mishima, Darrin Henson as Raven, Ian Anthony Dale as Kazuya, Cung Le as Marshall Law, Marian Zapico as Anna Williams, and the UFC's Roger "Matador" Huerta plays Miguel Rojas.
Like Street Fighter, a movie based on Tekken is a terrible, terrible idea. But if we have to watch a movie filled with SF's C-listers or Tekken's several martial artists, we're leaning towards column B.

seriously, does every semi-successful game need a movie? its not even like Tekken is that popular of series. it's nowhere near the merit of a Mortal Kombat or a Street Fighter, and even those weren't/probably won't be very good movies. like always in relation to video game movies, i hope im wrong but if history is any indication, video game movies = bad movies

Second, if good games frequently turn into shit movies, then why on earth should a game's popularity be such a huge factor when the producers should really be asking themselves if the film can, even remotely, stand on its on. Basically, if this Tekken movie placed emphasis on its fighting and style, then i don't care that its story isn't amazing. Conversely, if the Street Fighter film thinks it can win me over by throwing its rubbish story in my face, with little good martial arts to make up for it, then it deserves to fail.
God that was a great game.

And another two:

I don't think the actress they picked for Christie has the correct skin-tone though, nor the bust...

WHY IS JACKIE CHAN NOT PLAYING LEI WULONG?!
(yet?) Well, i guess they haven't announced if Lei is going to be in the movie at all (which he should) or who would be playing him (which should be Jackie Chan).
Lei was practically modeled after the Chan-ster. Look at all the goofy cutscenes, and he's also a friggin COP! Sit back and think how many movies Jackie Chan has been in where he played a cop... yeah, that's right. over 9,000!
here's to hoping Tekken's first live-action attempt is not a hairy ass of a movie. Let's face it, even the anime wasn't that good. at all.

Tony Jaa should have been law
Wesli Snipes should have been raven
Jackie should have been Lei
Most of these are obvious picks, why?

This film will more than likely end up lacking in plot (as if much of a plot exists in Tekken, let alone any fighting games), but as long as the fights are plentiful and well choreographed, it could end up being a pretty good martial arts flick, and that's fine with me.
/I'm also going to assume that "Mishima" is referring to Heihachi.

I may see it, if the trailers convinces me. But if it's on the same month as Street Fighter, then rental.
