Xbox 360 teaches parents the art of street cred
17
Microsoft has done it. They've cracked the barrier between kids who game and their ill-informed parents. How you ask could they accomplish such a feat? Parental Street Cred is a new initiative from Microsoft to help parents understand the finer details of our social culture. The video above is just a small sample of the gems you'll find when you visit the site.
While some of the videos are entertaining I don't know how well parents will respond. For example, if we showed our parents these videos we may be accused of being on "the drugs." One thing is certain, Microsoft is trying their hardest to pitch the console as a safe way to include entertainment into the home and with solid family features and a steadily dropping price point we think it's an initiative worth jumping into.
Also, if the site teaches us gamers anything it's that some verbiage gets old faster than internet memes. Check out the rest of the videos after the jump.
[Thanks, Nathan T.]

Maybe not... if you check the "Mall Tours" and "Retail Locations", this PR Campaign appears to be targeting Canada... where weirdness and even drugs are less frowned upon.

To me this is microsoft trying to make the consumer believe this is a family system (LIE)
The only family system I no is the Wii.
I have a PS3 and know its not aimed on family gaming it (and the 360) is about online gaming.
Imagine this your grandma on GoW lancering a locust bitch on live while your grandad sits there watching and cheering

my dad actually worked on these ads trying to think of ways to make the xbox more appealing to the kids
He told me they are trying to make the xbox as "cool" as the wii. My dad thinks that when the parents see the ad, they will think that they will be considered "cool" by their kids.
Although Microsoft did not actually create these commercials, they did give input when my dads company was coming up with an ad campaign

Oh no.
Something tells me the phrase "Male-to-male pootie shake" will be used to taunt and ridicule Xbox gamers for years to come.
